Constellar Sombre Only Does Everything
Hidden Arsenal 7: Knight of Stars introduced the Constellar monsters, celestial warriors capable of quick and easy Xyz Summons. Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy has 2 new cards for Constellar fans, one new Xyz Monster, and a Level 4 monster that does everything short of pull Xyz Monsters straight from the Extra Deck! Today we’re going to cover Constellar Sombre, a Level 4 monster that’ll help with any Constellar strategy you want to use!
You can only use each effect of “Constellar Sombre” once per turn. While this card is in the Graveyard, if it was sent there this turn, you can Normal Summon 1 “Constellar” monster for 1 less Tribute.
You can banish 1 “Constellar” monster from your Graveyard, then target 1 “Constellar” monster in your Graveyard; add that target to your hand, also, this card gains the following effect.
●This turn: You can activate this effect; Normal Summon 1 “Constellar” monster.
Constellar Sombre is a Level 4 LIGHT Fairy-type monster with 1550 ATK and 1600 DEF. Sombre has 3 different effects that rely on certain conditions to be met before they can be used. In addition, each effect can only be used once per turn, however you are free to use all 3 of the effects once each in a turn.
The first effect of Constellar Sombre allows you to Normal Summon a Constellar monster with 1 less Tribute, as long as Sombre was sent to the Graveyard this turn, and is still in the Graveyard when you want to do your Normal Summon. This effect is easy to set up and use. You can detach Constellar Sombre as a Xyz Material, sending it to the Graveyard, giving you a Normal Summon of a “Constellar” monster for 1 less Tribute this turn. You can Normal Summon a monster like Constellar Virgo, allowing you to special Summon another Constellar monster from your hand, leading to a fast Rank 5 Xyz Summon! Sombre isn’t interested in how she gets to the Graveyard either – you can even use cards like Foolish Burial to get your Tribute-free Normal Summon.
Sombre’s other two effects are used while Sombre is on the field. The second effect of Constellar Sombre allows you to banish 1 Constellar monster from your Graveyard to add 1 Constellar from your Graveyard to your hand. This can be useful when used with Constellar Pollux:
· Normal Summon Constellar Pollux, and using its additional Normal Summon, Summon Constellar Sombre.
· Use Constellar Sombre’s effect to banish a Constellar and add a Constellar to your hand.
· Combine the 2 monsters for a Rank 4 Xyz Summon!
Using Constellar Sombre’s effect allows you to mitigate the cost of Xyz Summoning and even turn it into a gain with Constellar Star Chart!
Using the effect to add a monster to your hand unlocks Sombre’s third ability, which you can activate in order to Normal Summon 1 Constellar monster. This means that you can use the above combo in order to Xyz Summon monsters that require 3 Materials! Furthermore, you can even do it in reverse order: you can start by Normal Summoning Constellar Sombre, then Normal Summoning the monster you added to your hand with her ability. Constellar Kaus is a great choice, giving you Rank 3, 4, and 5 options as well. Speaking of Rank 4 Xyz Monsters, there’s also the new Constellar Omega, but we’ll discuss that another day.
Constellar Decks love Xyz Summoning, and Constellar Sombre helps you to set them up perfectly. Whether it’s getting the right monster for the job, or actually getting them onto the field, Sombre is one of the best choices to help you set up easy Xyz Summons. You can find it in Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy, available now!
