HTS Psyhemuth heats things up!

August 6th, 2013

It’s that time again! Time to check out one of the awesome new Synchro Monsters in Judgment of the Light! This time we’ve got a fantastic new Level 6 Synchro Monster, the HTS Psyhemuth!

High-Temperature-Superconductive

On top of its hefty 2400 ATK and lenient Synchro Material requirements, HTS Psyhemuth packs a devastating effect: Any time it battles an enemy monster, you can have it banish itself and the opposing monster! We’ve seen this effect on cards like D.D. Warrior Lady before, but never on a monster that can be pulled straight from the Extra Deck, nor one with such high ATK. The fact that you never have to be lucky enough to draw this card and can access it at-will is a huge boon, and at Level 6, it fills an important gap in many Extra Decks.

HTS Psyhemuth offers something never found in a Level 6 Synchro Monster before – a permanent answer to any* problematic monster you can imagine. Since it doesn’t target, HTS Psyhemuth can even deal with cards that Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier never could and because it banishes the monster, they’re gone for good!** Monsters with built-in protection like Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack or Number 74: Master of Blades all fall to HTS Psyhemuth!

With its high ATK, Psyhemuth can usually take out a monster without even using its effect, leaving your opponent in a tough position. They’ve got to find a way to take out your Psyhemuth, or they’ll only continue losing monsters to it. What’s more, if they have to resort to battle, then they’ll still lose a monster to it! Psyhemuth isn’t only good for taking out bigger monsters, of course. You can always have it banish itself while removing smaller problematic cards. Monsters like Wind-Up Zenmaines or Mermail Abysslinde are helpless against your psychic behemoth!

While HTS Psyhemuth is great on its own, you’ll find that its Psychic typing only makes things better. You can banish a monster with Psyhemuth, then return it to play with Brain Hazard to do it all again. You can easily bring it out with Psychic Feel Zone, or alternatively, use Psychic Feel Zone to upgrade your banished Psyhemuth into an even bigger Synchro Monster.

This behemoth is looking to be one of the best Level 6 Synchro Monsters we’ve seen yet, and you can find it when Judgment of the Light drops on Friday!

*Angel of Zera notwithstanding.

**Angel of Zera again. D.D. Survivor looks on sadly from the sidelines having been forgotten under the prior footnote.
