What’s New in Saga of Blue-Eyes White Dragon?

September 17th, 2013

Over a decade past its release, the Blue-Eyes White Dragon is still a favorite among Yu-Gi-Oh! fans. Now, this fabled Dragon is more powerful than ever before! The Saga of Blue-Eyes White Dragon Strcuture Deck includes 6 brand new cards that will empower any Deck focused on the Blue-Eyes White Dragon. If you haven’t seen them yet, here they all are!

Maiden

Does the Maiden with Eyes of Blue look familiar? If she does, it’s probably because she resembles Kisara from the Dawn of the Duel episodes of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! animated series. Kisara was a frail blue-eyed girl who carried the spirit of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon inside of her. When imperiled, she was able to release the spirit of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon to protect the people she cared about.

The Maiden with Eyes of Blue is a lot like Kisara. She too can unleash the Blue-Eyes White Dragon in times of need. Once per turn, when she’s targeted by a card effect, you can Special Summon a Blue-Eyes White Dragon from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard. Likewise, when she’s targeted by an attack, you can negate that attack and change her battle position to Special Summon a Blue-Eyes White Dragon from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard.

Like Kisara, the Maiden with Eyes of Blue is feeble on the outside. She has 0 ATK and DEF. But at times, her inner strength is released, and she is able to Summon an incredible Dragon.

Azure

The Blue-Eyes White Dragon isn’t the only monster that the Maiden with Eyes of Blue can unleash. Since she’s a Level 1 Tuner Monster, she can be Tuned with a Blue-Eyes White Dragon to Synchro Summon the brand new Level 9 Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon!

When Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon is Special Summoned, all of your Dragons can’t be targeted or destroyed by card effects until the end of the next turn. Furthermore, during your Standby Phase, if Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon is on your field, you can Special Summon a Normal Monster from your Graveyard. If you Tune the Blue-Eyes White Dragon with a Level 1 Tuner to Synchro Summon Azure-Eyes, you’ll able to Special Summon your Blue-Eyes back to the field during your next Standby Phase.

Shrine

If you’re looking for other ways to send your Blue-Eyes White Dragons to your Graveyard, look no further! Dragon Shrine is a Normal Spell Card that lets you send a Dragon from your Deck to your Graveyard. If you send a Normal Dragon to your Graveyard with Dragon Shrine, then you can send another Dragon to your Graveyard too! Send The White Stone of Legend to your Graveyard after sending a Blue-Eyes White Dragon to your Graveyard, and then you’ll be able to add a copy of Blue-Eyes from your Deck to your hand. Once you send a Blue-Eyes White Dragon to your Graveyard with Dragon Shrine, you can Special Summon it back to the field with Silver’s Cry.

Cry

Haven’t you always wanted more ways to Special Summon  Blue-Eyes White Dragon? Now you can use the new Silver’s Cry card to do so with ease! Silver’s Cry is a Quick-Play Spell Card that lets you Special Summon a Normal Dragon from your Graveyard. Use it to Special Summon a Blue-Eyes White Dragon. It’s quick, simple, and effective.

Rider

Rider of the Storm Winds is a Level 1 Tuner that you can equip to a Normal Dragon. While equipped with Rider of the Storm Winds, that Dragon inflicts piercing damage to your opponent. Plus, if the equipped monster would be destroyed, Rider of the Storm Winds is destroyed instead. Equip it to a Blue-Eyes White Dragon to give your Dragon extra fortitude and have your Dragon blast through your opponent’s weak defensive monsters, like Tokens, to damage your opponent’s Life Points.

Castle

Castle of Dragon Souls is a Continuous Trap Card that has a couple of awesome effects. First, it lets you banish a Dragon from your Graveyard to give an extra 700 ATK to one of your monsters. Target Maiden with Eyes of Blue for the Attack Point boost, and your Maiden’s effect will activate to Special Summon a Blue-Eyes White Dragon.

Second, when your face-up Castle of Dragon Souls is sent to the Graveyard, you can Special Summon a banished Dragon. Since Castle of Dragon Souls lets you banish any Dragon in your Graveyard, you’ll usually have lots of choices for monsters to Special Summon with its effect.
