Harpie Decks generally have no problem destroying Spell and Trap Cards. Harpies’ Hunting Ground destroys one every time a Harpie Lady or Harpie Lady Sisters is Summoned. Windrose the Elemental Lord, which can be Special Summoned when you have 5 WIND Monsters like Harpie Lady in your Graveyard, destroys all of an opponent’s Spell and Trap Cards. In the Traditional Format, Harpie’s Feather Duster destroys all of an opponent’s Spell & Trap Cards at once, and you can search it out of your Deck with Hysteric Sign. But until now, most Harpie strategies were lacking the strength to destroy an opponent’s monsters.

While you control 3 or more Harpie Lady or Harpie Lady Sisters, Harpie Lady Phoenix Formation destroys as many monsters as your opponent controls, up to the number for Harpie Lady and Harpie Lady Sisters you control. For example, if you control 3 Harpie Lady cards when you activate your Phoenix Formation, it’ll destroy 3 of your opponent’s monsters. If your opponent controls fewer than 3 monsters, it destroys all of them instead.

As an added bonus, Harpie Lady Phoenix Formation also wipes out a chunk of your opponent’s Life Points when it’s used. After Harpie Lady Phoenix Formation obliterates your opponent’s field, your opponent loses Life Points equal to the original ATK of his or her strongest monster. That’s a lot of power in a single Spell Card!

There are a couple conditions attached to the use of Harpie Lady Phoenix Formation, but all of them are easy for a skilled Duelist to maneuver around. The first drawback prevents a Duelist from Special Summoning monsters from the Main Deck or Extra Deck during the turn that he or she activates Harpie Lady Phoenix Formation. Nevertheless, a Duelist can Special Summon from his or her hand and Graveyard during that same turn. This means that you can activate Hysteric Party to Special Summon all of your Harpie Lady monsters from your Graveyard at once, take out a Spell or Trap with Hunting Ground, and then activate Harpie Lady Phoenix Formation to wipe out all of your opponent’s monsters as well.

Use Hysteric Party to fill your field with Harpie Lady monsters and quickly activate Harpie Lady Phoenix Formation.

The second drawback on Harpie Lady Phoenix Formation stops you from conducting your Battle Phase during the turn that it’s activated; but that’s a small sacrifice for the power that Harpie Lady Phoenix Formation gives you. When you have 3 or more Harpies on your field and activate Harpie Lady Phoenix Formation, it’s usually because your opponent’s monsters are too strong for your own monsters to handle in battle. Harpie Lady Phoenix Formation opens the path to victory, and it’s not like you miss out on dealing damage. Say both you and your opponent have 3 monsters on the field. The damage from Phoenix Formation is likely more than you would have been able to deal in battle had you used a bunch of cards to power up your Harpies and attack all of your opponent’s monsters.

Harpie Lady Phoenix Formation is a powerful Spell Card that can destroy all of your opponent’s monsters at once and inflict damage to your opponent’s Life Points. Since it’s a Harpie card, you can even grab it from your Deck in a pinch with the effect of Hysteric Sign.
