The Monarchs are back to reclaim their thrones! Shadow Specters contains a brand new Continuous Spell Card to use alongside all of your favorite Monarch Cards, plus a brand new EARTH Monarch. Royalty has never looked this powerful!

Return of the Monarchs is a new Continuous Spell Card that heralds the return of Monarch Decks to your local tournaments! While Return of the Monarchs is face-up on your field, whenever you Tribute Summon a monster, you can activate 1 of 2 effects.

The first effect lets you add a monster with 2400 ATK and 1000 DEF from your Deck to your hand, as long as that monster has a different name than the monster you Tribute Summoned. All of the Monarchs released upon until now have 2400 ATK and 1000 DEF. That means you can grab any one of them with Return of the Monarchs.

The second effect of Return of the Monarchs lets you add a monster with 2800 ATK and 1000 DEF from your Deck to your hand, as long as that monster has a different name than the monster you Tribute Summoned. Those are the stats of the new Granmarg the Mega Monarch in Shadow Specters.

Granmarg the Mega Monarch is a Level 8 EARTH Monster that can be Tribute Summoned by Tributing 1 Tribute Summoned monster. When you Tribute Summon it, you get to destroy up to 2 Set cards on the field. If you Tributed an EARTH monster (like a Granmarg the Rock Monarch that you Tribute Summoned last turn), you also get to draw a card.

As long as Return of the Monarchs is face-up on your field, you can’t Special Summon monsters from your Extra Deck. Lots of Decks rely on their Extra Decks for Summoning their strongest monsters; but Monarch Decks are different. Monarch Decks include lots of high-ATK monsters with strong effects right in the Main Deck, and don’t need to rely on their Extra Decks. That makes the drawback on Return of the Monarchs insignificant.

While you’re using a Deck focused on winning with Monarchs, you might also want to use March of the Monarchs from Cosmo Blazer. Like Return of the Monarchs, March of the Monarchs prevents the Duelist who uses it from Special Summoning monsters from the Extra Deck, but also has a powerful effect. While March of the Monarchs is on your field, your Tribute Summoned monsters can’t be targeted or destroyed by card effects.

March of the Monarchs helps to guarantee that your Tribute Summoned monsters arrive safely on your field and stay there. This is especially important while using Return of the Monarchs, because the monster you Tribute Summon must be face-up on the field to activate and to resolve the effect of Return of the Monarchs.

The new Monarch cards will inspire Duelists to build Monarch Decks differently than ever before.
