In Judgment of the Light, we saw a Synchro Monster first: Star Eater, the very first Level 11 Synchro Monster! Following in Star Eater’s footsteps, we’re proud to introduce another first in Synchro Summoning: the rockin’ Giganticastle!

At first glance, Giganticastle offers your Extra Deck some simple brute force. That’s great, but there are some subtle advantages Giganticastle offers over other Level 9 Synchro Monsters.

First of all, it’s the very first Level 9 Synchro Monster that only needs 2 non-specific Synchro Materials! In the past, Level 9 has been a tough Level to reach. You either needed three or more monsters, like with Mist Wurm, or you had to have a certain type of Deck for others like Scrap Twin Dragon. Giganticastle casts aside the restrictions of its predecessors, allowing it to be played with any Tuner and any other monster – as long as the Levels add up to 9, of course. No longer will Duelists be held back by a lack of a 2-material Level 9 Synchro!

Beyond its easy Summoning requirements, Giganticastle continues to break new ground with its impressive stats! Since it gains 200 ATK and DEF for each non-Tuner Synchro Material you use to play it, Giganticastle will always be coming into play with a minimum of 3100 ATK. That means it’s got some of the highest ATK of all Level 9 Synchros! Using just a single non-Tuner, Giganticastle dethrones Ally of Justice Field Marshall as the strongest Level 9 available to the average Extra Deck. With a second non-Tuner material, Giganticastle surpasses XX-Saber Gottoms, and is now tied with Overmind Archfiend as the mightiest Level 9 Synchro.

There are a lot of ways to use Giganticastle in your existing Decks, without changing anything. Any Deck that’s packing some high-Level monsters and Tuners will often have ways to bring Giganticastle to the field. Dragunity Decks can easily pair Dragunity Phalanx with any of the Level 7 Dragon Rulers – try upgrading your Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders into a 3100 ATK behemoth, and you’ll be able to use Redox’s effect later on if Giganticastle ends up in the Graveyard! A Deck with Destiny HERO – Malicious or Gorz the Emissary of Darkness often falls into situations where a Level 9 Synchro would be handy. Giganticastle gives you that option now, opening up plays that simply weren’t there before. Finally, if you’re packing cards like Scapegoat or Dandylion, you’ll be able to truly harness the power of Giganticastle, throwing it down with as much as 3700 ATK!

Giganticastle offers a simple way to streamline your Extra Deck, giving you never-before-possible plays all while pounding away with some incredible ATK and DEF. Giganticastle is available now in Shadow Specters, so if you’re looking for a low-commitment Level 9 Synchro Monster, check it out!
