Why Do Fire Fist Decks Win?
Fire Fists are a hot Deck right now, so it’s important to understand how the Deck works. If you participate in any Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME events, there’s a good chance you’ll run into some Fire Fist Decks. Fire Fist Decks use a wide assortment of powerful Fire Fist monsters and versatile Fire Formation Spell & Trap Cards to incinerate opponents. Here’s a quick rundown of a typical Fire Fist Deck’s best cards and combos, and an accompanying explanation of why Fire Fist Decks win.
1.) Fire Fist Monsters Destroy Opponents’ Cards and Search for Components of the Deck
Lots of powerful cards can destroy an opponent’s cards. Lots of other powerful cards will let you search your Deck for cards you need, and place them on the field. Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Bear and Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Gorilla can do both. By sending a Fire Formation Spell or Trap Card from your field to your Graveyard, Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Bear can destroy an opponent’s monster, and Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Gorilla can destroy an opponent’s Spell or Trap Card.
Bear and Gorilla both have the ability to Set Fire Formation Spell Cards from the Deck, too. Whenever Bear inflicts battle damage to an opponent, or Gorilla destroys an opponent’s monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard, each of them can Set a Fire Formation Spell Card from the Deck. Not only do these Fire Formation Spell Cards fuel their abilities, but they also provide useful effects to the Duelists wielding them.
2.) Fire Formations Empower Weak Monsters and Annihilate Opponents
It’s no secret that Fire Fist Decks generally activate lots of Fire Formation Spell and/or Trap Cards before they take a victory. Each Fire Formation stays on the field after its activated, enabling the effects of Fire Fist monsters and granting each Beast-Warrior a modest Attack Point boost.
But that’s not all that Fire Formations can do. Each one of them also packs a powerful effect. Fire Formation – Tenki, for instance, can add any Level 4 or lower Beast-Warrior monster, including Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Bear and Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Gorilla, to a Duelist’s hand. Fire Formation – Tensu allows a Fire Fist Duelist to Normal Summon an additional Beast-Warrior each turn. Fire Formation – Gyokkou prevents an opponent from activating a Set Spell or Trap Card.
The combination of strong Fire Fist monsters and powerful Fire Formation effects makes Fire Fist Decks a powerful contender on the tournament scene.
3.) Fire Fist Decks Can Summon Powerful Xyz Monsters
On top of all of the powerful cards that Fire Fist Duelists use in their Main Decks, Fire Fist Duelists also have access to powerful Extra Deck monsters that aren’t effectively used by any other Deck.
Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Tiger King, for instance, is a Rank 4 monster that can only be Xyz Summoned by combining 2 Level 4 Beast-Warriors. Once Summoned, it lets a Fire Fist Duelist Set a Fire Formation Spell or Trap Card from his or her Deck. Tiger King is a breeze to Summon with Coach Soldier Wolfbark – a Level 4 FIRE Beast-Warrior that Special Summons a Level 4 FIRE Beast-Warrior from the Graveyard once per turn. In a pinch, Wolfbark can combine with the monster it Special Summons to Xyz Summon just about any Rank 4 monster, including Tiger King.
Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Cardinal is another powerful Xyz Monster that only Fire Fist Decks can use. Cardinal can be Xyz Summoned by combining 2 Level 4 Fire Fist Monsters. By detaching 2 Xyz Materials from Cardinal, it can shuffle 2 Fire Formations on the field and/or in the Graveyard, along with 2 cards in an opponent’s Graveyard and/or face-up on his or her field, back into their owners’ Decks.
While these are the most common cards and strategies that have been used by Fire Fist Duelists recently, the possibilities of what you may encounter in a Duel against a Fire Fist opponent are limitless! Many Duelists are using Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Spirit and Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Rooster to Synchro Summon Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Horse Prince and Vulcan the Divine, and some are using Rekindling to Special Summon a bunch of Fire Fist monsters at once.
Other Fire Fist Duelists use Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Dragon, which allows a Duelist to Set a Fire Formation Trap Card from his or her Deck once per turn when another Fire Formation is activated. When used in a Deck, Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Dragon is usually accompanied by Fire Formation Trap Cards like Fire Formation – Tensen and Fire Formation – Tenken. Some Fire Fist Decks also feature Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Leopard, which can Set important Fire Formation Spell and Trap Cards from the Deck.
