Why Do Geargia Decks Win?
Geargia Decks can be tough to beat if you don’t know how they work. They have lots of powerful cards and explosive combos that have contributed to their recent tournament success. Here’s a quick rundown of some of their best cards and most powerful plays that you should look out for when facing off against a Geargia Deck.
1.) Geargiarmor Searches for a Geargia Monster Each Turn
Geargiarmor may not look threatening at first, but its effect works to pull together the Geargia strategy. Geargiarmor has a whopping 1900 DEF, and when it’s flipped face-up, a Geargia Duelist can add any Geargia monster from his or her Deck to his or her hand. Geargia Decks make a lot of big plays using Geargiaccelerator, Geargiarsenal, and the Geargiano monsters, and Geargiarmor can search for any of them. Plus, Geargiarmor’s effect lets a Duelist put it face-down once per turn, making it possible to use a single Geargiarmor’s effect every turn.
2.) Geargiagear Summons 2 Level 4 Monsters from the Deck
Geargiagear is one of the most powerful Trap Cards in a Geargia Duelist’s Deck. Geargiagear Special Summons 2 Geargiano Monsters from the Deck and increases each of their Levels by 1. There are two different Level 3 Gergiano Monsters – Geargiano and Geargiano Mk-II – that can be Special Summoned with Geargiagear. Since both of them are Special Summoned as Level 4 monsters, they can be combined to Xyz Summon a Rank 4 monster like Gear Gigant X. Gear Gigant X lets a Geargia Duelist add any Level 4 or lower Machine-Type monster from his or her Deck or Graveyard to his or her hand by giving up an Xyz Material. This effect helps to assure that Geargia Duelists have the monsters they need exactly when they need them.
3.) Burei and Bureido Swarm the Field with Machines
One of the most devastating strings of plays that a Geargia Deck can make usually involves Synchro Summoning Karakuri Shogun mdl 00 “Burei” and Karakuri Steel Shogun mdl 00X “Bureido”. Most tournament-level Geargia Decks use a bunch of Tuners, including Genex Ally Birdman, Karakuri Strategist mdl 248 “Nishipachi”, and Karakuri Watchdog mdl 313 “Saizan” to help Summon Burei and Bureido.
Burei is a Level 7 Synchro Monster with 2600 ATK that can only be Synchro Summoned by combining a Tuner with 1 or more non-Tuner Machine-Type Monsters. Bureido is a Level 8 Synchro Monster with 2800 ATK that can only be Synchro Summoned by combining a Tuner with 1 more non-Tuner Machine-Type Monsters. Since all of the Geargia monsters are Machines, it’s easy to meet the Summoning requirements for Burei and Bureido.
Once Summoned, Burei and Bureido each Special Summon a Karakuri monster from the Deck. Usually, Duelists use the effects of Burei and Bureido to Special Summon a Tuner, like Karakuri Strategist mdl 248 “Nishipachi” or Karakuri Watchdog mdl 313 “Saizan”. Then, they Tune the newly Summoned Tuner with another Machine-Type monster that they control, to Synchro Summon another Burei or Bureido and repeat the process. With Gear Gigant X and Geargiarmor searching for Machines to add to the hand, and Geargiaccelerator and Geargiagear making it easy to Special Summon Machines to the field, it’s not unusual for a Geargia Duelist to Synchro Summon more than one monster in a single turn.
Geargia Decks make a lot of big plays that are tough to stop if you don’t see them coming. That’s why Geargia Decks win, and that’s why it’s important to understand how Geargia Decks work when you’re facing off against them.
