Lonefire Blossom Shines Bright!

March 11th, 2014

Premium Gold is coming soon, and while there a lot of new cards in the set, there are also some great existing cards that have never been Gold Rares before that are finally getting their due! Lonefire Blossom has been an extremely powerful and incredibly well-loved card ever since it was released in Phantom Darkness. While it was originally used to Summon monsters like Gigaplant and Tytannial, Princess of Camellias, it later received heavy play Summoning Dandylion, Spore, and Glow-Up Bulb from the Deck.  Lonefire Blossom had fallen out of favour lately, but now that Plant Decks have experienced a revival thanks to the Sylvan monsters from Legacy of the Valiant (and soon, Primal Origin!), Lonefire Blossom is poised for a huge comeback!

Lonefire Blossom
is a Level 3 FIRE Plant-type monster that allows you to Tribute any Plant monster you control to Special Summon a Plant-type monster from your Deck. The Blossom is powerful because there’s no Level limit on what you can Summon, much like Mermail Abysslinde. You can opt for a heavy hitter like Tytannial, Princess of Camellias, Sylvan Hermitree, or Queen Angel of Roses, or you can even search for smaller combo monsters like Dandylion, Copy Plant, or Spore. But the best part is that Lonefire Blossom can Tribute itself to use its effect – you can Normal Summon it, and then Tribute it right away to Summon any Plant monster from your Deck!

Most Decks that use Lonefire Blossom want to see it as early and as often as possible. Miracle Fertilizer allows you to give up your Normal Summon or Set to Special Summon any Plant-type monster from your Graveyard. Using it on Lonefire Blossom essentially changes its effect to “Summon any Plant from your Deck” instead. Getting Lonefire into the Graveyard is fairly easy, thanks to its own effect, Foolish Burial, Meliae of the Trees, or even by being excavated by a Sylvan card. But you can also pull it straight out of your Deck to the field by Tributing a smaller monster to activate Super Solar Nutrient.

Lonefire Blossom is effectively every Plant monster in your Deck all packed into one Level 3 monster. It becomes the perfect monster for whatever situation you’re in every time you draw it. In addition, it combos nicely with pretty much every card you’d consider using in a Plant-based Deck, and has been an integral part of every Deck that has ever relied on using key Plant-Type monsters. Finally, this incredible monster is getting the recognition it deserves as a new Gold Rare in Premium Gold!

Premium Gold launches on March 28th!
