It’s been five years, but the wait is over! In Duelist Alliance, Debris Dragon loving Duelists everywhere will finally have what they’ve always dreamed of: a Level 5 Dragon-type Synchro Monster for every Deck. It’s Samsara, Dragon of Rebirth!

Let’s just get this out of the way: Yes! You can Synchro Summon Samsara, Dragon of Rebirth using Debris Dragon! Samsara isn’t picky like Lavalval Dragon. In fact, Samsara can be played with any Tuner and non-Tuner, so it’s open to everybody.

Now that we’ve got that settled, what exactly does Samsara, Dragon of Rebirth do? It’s basically a Monster Reborn with huge 2600 DEF! Any time Samsara is sent to the Graveyard by an opponent’s card, whether by battle or an effect (even if not destroyed, such as by Number 50: Blackship of Corn), you’ll get to mimic the effect of Monster Reborn! Pick any other monster in either Graveyard and Special Summon it – no strings attached.

Samsara offers a new spin on Level 5 Synchro Monsters. Unless you’re using specific Tuners or certain groups of monsters, you’re a bit limited on what Level 5’s are open to you. You’ve got aggressive choices like Ally of Justice Catastor and Armades, Keeper of Boundaries, and the combo-driven T.G. Hyper Librarian. Samsara gives you a viable defensive choice, while still being capable of an aggressive style as well. You can turtle up behind Samsara’s 2600 DEF, forcing your opponent to get through two monsters to hit your Life Points; on the other hand, Samsara’s low 100 ATK makes it easy to crash into a bigger monster, giving you the strongest monster from the Graveyards!

As a Dragon-type, Samsara plays especially well with other Dragon monsters. Debris Dragon is thrilled to finally have a Level 5 Synchro option, and Debris is also able to Special Summon it from the Graveyard since its ATK is 100. You can also bring Samsara back to the field with Queen Dragun Djinn, Lightpulsar Dragon, and Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, which opens up some very cool tricks. You can even create a loop of Lightpulsar and Samsara reviving each other!

Overall, Samsara, Dragon of Rebirth is a simple card on the surface, but it has a ton of depth to it. No one can deny its great effect, and it’s a great fit for any strategy that can use it. It’s easily one of the best Level 5 Synchro Monsters yet, and you’ll only find it in Duelist Alliance!
