Legendary Collection 5D’s is Here!

October 24th, 2014

Ever since the release of The Duelist Genesis, Synchro Monsters have been a massive part of the game. One of the most iconic Synchro Monsters ever is Yusei Fudo’s ace monster, Stardust Dragon! Both on the TV screen and on the tournament tables, Stardust Dragon has been popular ever since its debut. With Legendary Collection 5Ds launching today, let’s take some time to revisit Stardust Dragon and it’s most well known advanced forms, as well as show off an all-new Stardust card you’ll get in every Legendary Collection 5Ds!

DustStardust Dragon has always been a popular standalone monster, and for good reason. With a decent 2500 ATK and simple Summoning conditions, it’s easy to include Stardust in any Synchro-based Deck you play. Its great effect is the real reason why people play it, though – you can Tribute Stardust Dragon to negate any activation or effect of any card that will destroy a card(s) on the field, and destroy it! If you do Tribute Stardust this way, it’ll return to the field during the End Phase, allowing you to protect your cards on the next turn as well!

Comet

Shooting Star Dragon is a powerful upgrade over the original Stardust Dragon, so much so that you have to use Stardust as a Synchro Material for its Summon! The other monster you’ll need is a Level 2 Synchro Tuner monster. For most Duelists, including Yusei himself, that means using Formula Synchron and drawing a card in the process! Shooting Star Dragon can negate and destroy any card or effect that would destroy card(s) on the field just like Stardust, but it doesn’t have to Tribute itself to do so! This makes it really hard to remove from the field with card effects. Its 3300 ATK doesn’t make it easy to destroy in battle either, and if your opponent somehow plays a monster stronger than it, you can banish Shooting Star when it’s attacked to negate that attack and return it at the end of the turn!

Shooting Star Dragon’s last ability makes it amazing when attacking, too. Once per turn during your Main Phase, you can reveal the top 5 cards of your Deck, shuffle them in, and give Shooting Star the ability to attack one time for each Tuner Monster you revealed. If you revealed 5 Tuner Monsters, that’s 5 attacks, equalling 16,500 damage if you attack directly! But if you reveal 0 Tuners, Shooting Star won’t able to attack at all. It’s a risky move, but it can win games all on its own, much like it did in the animated series!

Quasar
Shooting Quasar Dragon
, the ultimate Stardust Dragon form, requires at least 3 Synchro Monsters for its Synchro Summon, and one of them must be a Synchro Tuner monster. It has 4000 ATK and can attack once for each non-Tuner used for its Synchro Summon, which means you can attack with it at least twice per turn. Shooting Quasar has an upgraded version of the Stardust effect, and Quasar’s version can negate any card or effect and destroy it once per turn! If your opponent manages to remove it from the field, Quasar’s last effect will kick in and Special Summon a Shooting Star Dragon from your Extra Deck! This is the first time Shooting Quasar Dragon  will be available in stores, and you’ll get one in every Legendary Collection 5D’s!

And finally, the last card we’re going to talk about today is another card you’ll get in every Legendary Collection 5D’s, the brand-new Stardust Flash!

Flash

Stardust Flash is simple but effective, instantly putting a Stardust monster on your field from your Graveyard. As long as you’ve Synchro Summoned them properly, you can use Stardust Flash to bring out either Stardust Dragon or Stardust Spark Dragon to easily protect your LP, or to protect your cards from being destroyed. For example, with Stardust Flash, you can Synchro Summon Shooting Star Dragon then bring back the Stardust Dragon you used to make it for double the negation power!

Stardust Dragon is getting a lot of love in Legendary Collection 5D’s, as well it should! Get ready to rev it up, because Legendary Collection 5D’s is here!
