Return of the Bling – Number 95: Galaxy-Eyes Dark Matter Dragon
Dragon Duelists rejoice! One of the all-new cards in Premium Gold: Return of the Bling is a way to power up your awesome Galaxy-Eyes Xyz Monsters even further! The Galaxy-Eyes dragons have encompassed photons and tachyons, so now they’re going even more subatomic. Say hello to Number 95: Galaxy-Eyes Dark Matter Dragon!
Number 95: Galaxy-Eyes Dark Matter Dragon is at home in either a dedicated Galaxy-Eyes strategy, or any Dragon Deck that can pump out Rank 8 Xyz Monsters. Why Rank 8, when Dark Matter Dragon is Rank 9? Because you can Xyz Summon Dark Matter Dragon using any other Galaxy-Eyes Xyz Monster as the Xyz Material! You can use Dark Matter Dragon as a way to get more out of your Xyz Monsters once they’ve run out of Xyz Materials. It’s also a great way to swap out Number 62: Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon if it doesn’t have Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon attached. Finally, reviving a Galaxy-Eyes Xyz Monster with Call of the Haunted or Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon just got a lot better.
Of course, it wouldn’t be right if Number 95: Galaxy-Eyes Dark Matter Dragon didn’t come with a cool ability like all the other Galaxy-Eyes monsters! When you Xyz Summon Dark Matter Dragon, you can send three Dragon-type monsters with different names from your Deck to the Graveyard. If you do, your opponent must banish three monsters from their Deck! You get to simultaneously fill your Graveyard with whatever Dragons you want – Dragon Rulers, Hieratics, Red-Eyes, Blue-Eyes, or Galaxy-Eyes for example – while your opponent will most likely have no way to retrieve the three monsters they give up. Sending your own Dragons to the Graveyard is a cost to use Dark Matter Dragon’s effect, so you’ll still get that part even if the full effect is negated.
Finally, just like most of the other Galaxy-Eyes Xyz Monsters, Dark Matter Dragon gets to attack multiple times each Battle Phase! While Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon or Number 107: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon are very powerful, resolving their effects for multiple attacks is actually dependent on your opponent’s field. Number 95: Galaxy-Eyes Dark Matter Dragon makes that problem go away with a simple activation requirement: Detach an Xyz Material. That’s all you need, and Dark Matter Dragon will get to make up to two attacks on monsters in the next Battle Phase! With 4000 ATK, hitting two monsters will seriously dent your opponent’s Life Points, if it doesn’t win the Duel outright!
With more new Gold Rare cards than ever before, Premium Gold: Return of the Bling is shaping up to be a great set! Stay tuned, because we’ll be talking about all the brand-new cards as well as the newly Gold ones in the coming weeks.
