Crossed Souls: Doubly Destructive

April 28th, 2015

A brand new card for destroying Spell & Trap Cards is available in Crossed Souls, and it’s out of this world! The new Galaxy Cyclone Spell Card gives Duelists an efficient way to destroy back rows.

Galaxy Cyclone’s effect is simple. It targets a Set Spell or Trap Card on the field and destroys it. That makes it a lot like Night Beam and Mystical Space Typhoon – two Spell Cards that have been popular in tournaments for destroying pesky Spell and Trap Cards.

But unlike Night Beam and Mystical Space Typhoon, Galaxy Cyclone isn’t meant to be forgotten about once it’s sent to the Graveyard. Galaxy Cyclone has a second effect. During your Main Phase, except during the turn that Galaxy Cyclone is sent to your Graveyard, you can banish Galaxy Cyclone from your Graveyard to destroy a face-up Spell or Trap Card on the field.

Galaxy Cyclone’s first effect is great for destroying popular Set cards like Mirror Force, Torrential Tribute, Solemn Warning, Solemn Scolding, or a face-down Vanity’s Emptiness. That’ll clear the way for you to safely Summon monsters and attack with them. Note that Galaxy Cyclone destroys “it”, not “that target”, so even if a card like Fiendish Chain is activated in response to Galaxy Cyclone, you’ll still destroy it.

Its second effect will destroy face-up Spell and Trap Cards, including any card in a Pendulum Zone, a face-up Skill Drain or Fiendish Chain, or a face-up Vanity’s Emptiness.

The ability to draw Galaxy Cyclone once and ultimately use its effect twice to destroy two of your opponent’s cards makes it powerful. But sometimes you can even benefit from its second effect to destroy a face-up Spell or Trap Card without drawing Galaxy Cyclone at all!

Send Galaxy Cyclone from your Deck to your Graveyard with cards like Charge of the Light Brigade, Card Trooper, or Bujintei Kagutsuchi. Then, you’ll be able to destroy your opponent’s face-up Spell and Trap Cards at your convenience, just by banishing Galaxy Cyclone from your Graveyard.

A single copy of Galaxy Cyclone can impact a Duel at two separate times, destroying two different Spell or Trap Cards. That makes it a strong card differentiating itself favorable from similar cards like Night Beam. You can add Galaxy Cyclone to your Deck when Crossed Souls releases on May 15th!
