Clash of Rebellions: Mistaken Arrest

July 23rd, 2015

Mistake has been a major player in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME Advanced Format. Its power to prevent players from adding cards from their Decks to their hands, except by drawing them, helps Duelists counter the effects of popular cards. But sometimes, the effect of Mistake backfires, preventing you from adding cards from your Deck to your hand long after activating it. The new Mistaken Arrest Quick-Play Spell Card works like Mistake, but can’t backfire as easily since its effect only lasts until the end of your next turn.

Mistaken Arrest
is a Quick-Play Spell Card that prevents players from adding cards from their Deck to their hand, except by drawing them, until the end of your next turn.

There are lots of cards that Duelists use to grab cards from their Deck. Cards like Nekroz of Brionac, Satellarknight Deneb, Ritual Beast Ulti-Cannahawk, Reinforcement of the Army, and Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss. Mistaken Arrest stops the effects of all of them, for up to 3 total turns depending on whose turn you play it during.

When your opponent tries to use the effect of one of these cards to add a card from his or her Deck to his or her hand, Chain Mistaken Arrest. It’ll stop your opponent from successfully adding the card to his or her hand, and prevent your opponent from going back into his or her Deck to search for other cards later in the turn. Even if you rely on lots of search effects in your own Deck, you can still use Mistaken Arrest effectively since its effect is only temporary.

Mistaken Arrest can even have a big impact when it’s Chained to a card that would destroy it, since its effect lingers until the end of your next turn. Lots of Duel-changing turns involve searching the Deck for cards to add to a Duelist’s hand. If your opponent tries to destroy your Set Mistaken Arrest with a card like Mystical Space Typhoon or Galaxy Cyclone, you can Chain Mistaken Arrest to temporarily stop your opponent from adding cards from his or her Deck to his or hand, thereby disrupting your opponent’s turn.

Mistaken Arrest is a nifty Quick-Play Spell Card that can have a tremendous impact on a Duel if activated at the right time. You can get your hands on Mistaken Arrest at the Clash of Rebellions Sneak Peek on August 1st and 2nd!
