Behind Red-Eyes

August 20th, 2015

Approximately two years ago, Blue-Eyes White Dragon Decks got a big boost with the release of the Saga of Blue-Eyes White Dragon Structure Deck. Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon, Maiden with Eyes of Blue, Castle of Dragon Souls, and more were released in this Structure Deck, giving Blue-Eyes White Dragon fans amazing new cards with which to play.

But while Blue-Eyes White Dragon cards saw play among casual and competitive Duelists alike, Red-Eyes B. Dragon cards seemed to fade in popularity after Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon was Limited. Clash of Rebellions, however, introduces brand new “Red-Eyes” cards that will make Red-Eyes Decks more viable and more popular than ever before!

The new Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon is an upgrade from the traditional Red-Eyes B. Dragon. Like Red-Eyes B. Dragon, Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon has 2400 ATK and 2000 DEF, and because it’s a Gemini monster, it’s treated as a Normal Monster while it’s on the field or in your Graveyard.

As a Gemini monster, Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon gains an effect if you use your Normal Summon on it while it’s already on the field. This changes it into an Effect Monster and counts as a monster being Summoned, but doesn’t require you to Tribute any monsters like you would to Normal Summon a Level 7 monster from your hand. That effect lets you inflict damage to your opponent’s Life Points equal to your Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon’s original ATK at the end of any Battle Phase in which you perform damage calculation with your Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon.

There are lots of cards that let you Special Summon Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon with ease, including Swing of Memories, Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, Red-Eyes Spirit, Red-Eyes Wyvern, and Call of the Haunted; but two new ways to Special Summon it are also included in Clash of Rebellions: The Black Stone of Legend and Return of the Red-Eyes!
The Black Stone of Legend
is a Level 1 monster that you can Tribute to Special Summon a Level 7 or lower “Red-Eyes” monster from your Deck, including Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon. Plus, if The Black Stone of Legend is in your Graveyard, you can return it to your hand by shuffling a Level 7 or lower “Red-Eyes” monster from your Graveyard back into your Deck.

Return of the Red-Eyes is a Continuous Trap Card that lets you Special Summon a Normal Monster from your Graveyard once per turn as long as you control a “Red-Eyes” monster. As an added bonus, if Return of the Red-Eyes is destroyed by an opponent’s card effect and sent to the Graveyard, you can Special Summon a “Red-Eyes” monster from your Graveyard.

By using The Black Stone of Legend and Return of the Red-Eyes to Special Summon Level 7 Red-Eyes monsters to your field, you’ll quickly amass 2 Level 7 Dragons that you can combine to Xyz Summon the all-new Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon!

Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon can be Xyz Summoned by combining any 2 Level 7 monsters. It has 2800 ATK and 3 awesome effects to boot. While Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon has an Xyz Material attached to it, it cannot be destroyed by card effects and it inflicts 500 points of damage to your opponent each time your opponent activates a card or effect. Plus, you can detach an Xyz Material from Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon to Special Summon a “Red-Eyes” Normal Monster from your Graveyard, including Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon, during either player’s turn.

The new Cards of the Red Stone Spell Card can help you get Level 7 “Red-Eyes” monsters into your Graveyard so that you can Special Summon them back to the field.

Cards of the Red Stone
lets you send a Level 7 “Red-Eyes” monster from your hand to your Graveyard to draw 2 cards. Then, you can send a Level 7 “Red-Eyes” monster from your Deck to your Graveyard. Cards of the Red Stone will fuel your Graveyard with “Red-Eyes” monsters while letting you trade in your Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragons for new cards from your Deck.

It’s also easy to get Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragons into your hand thanks to Keeper of the Shrine and Black Metal Dragon!

UnsungHeroes
Keeper of the Shrine
is a Level 4 monster with 2100 DEF that you can Special Summon from your hand or Graveyard if a face-up Dragon on the field is sent to the Graveyard by battle or by a card effect. Then, if that destroyed monster was a Normal Monster, you can add a Dragon-Type Normal Monster from your Graveyard to your hand. Use Keeper of the Shrine to add a Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon to your hand whenever one of your Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragons is destroyed. As an added benefit, Keeper of the Shrine also counts as 2 Tributes whenever it’s Tributed to Summon a Dragon-Type monster, so it alone will satisfy the entire cost when Tribute Summoning Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon.

Black Metal Dragon is a Level 1 monster that you can equip from your hand or field to one of your “Red-Eyes” monsters in order to increase that monster’s ATK by 600. Plus, if Black Metal Dragon is sent from your field to your Graveyard, you can add a “Red-Eyes” card from your Deck to your hand, including Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon and Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon.

There are lots of awesome new cards that raise Red-Eyes Decks to new competitive heights! You can get your hands on them right now!
