It’s a Synchro, it’s a Tuner, it’s an attacker and a combo card! It’s Tatsunoko!

Tatsunoko is a Level 3 Synchro Monster, which can be Summoned with any Tuner and non-Tuners. It comes with a nice 1700 ATK, and is immune to all other monsters’ effects! That makes it a useful monster for either offense or defense, and it fills in as a Synchro Tuner for Level 3, something only previously accomplished by Phonon Pulse Dragon’s effect.

Plus, if Tatsunoko is being used for a Synchro Summon, one of the Synchro Materials can come from your hand! This lets you push out a Synchro Monster when you would otherwise be out of Summons, creating plays that were never possible before. Tatsunoko can also be used to fake out your opponent into thinking you can’t Synchro Summon when you can, or vice-versa.

As a Wyrm-type, Tatsunoko can fit into Yang Zing Decks just fine. You can Summon it with either a combo of Chiwen, Light of the Yang Zing and Bixi, Water of the Yang Zing; or Jiaotu, Darkness of the Yang Zing and Pulao, Wind of the Yang Zing. From there, you’ll be able to use Tatsunoko for a Synchro Summon or as an attacker.

Tatsunoko being a WATER monster makes it compatible with Mermail Decks as well. Specifically, it lets you get around the restriction on Fishborg Launcher! You can only use Fishborg Launcher for a WATER Synchro Monster, so Tatsunoko can act as a stepping stone into any other Attribute of Synchro Monster you may want.

Tatsunoko is one of those cards that gets extra mileage in certain Decks, like Yang Zing, but really is a great card all around. Even if it isn’t being used as a Tuner, it’s a welcome addition to the very limited number of Level 3 Synchro Monsters available: Mist Bird Clausolas and Turbo Cannon. With Tatsunoko being a Tuner, its utility skyrockets from there.

You’ll probably start to notice a ton of new options available that never were there before, entirely because Tatsunoko can branch your move into a Synchro Monster when you have a Synchro Material in your hand. Also of note is that Tatsunoko is not competing with Formula Synchron as a Synchro Tuner – they can work together for different possible Levels. In fact, Formula Synchron can be used to play Tatsunoko! Throw T.G. Hyper Librarian into the mix, and you can get a huge sequence of Synchros and draw a ton of free cards!

Tatsunoko is great addition to any Synchro-based Extra Deck, enabling new plays and even serving as an attacker or defender with built-in protection. You can find this little guy in Clash of Rebellions!
