That Resonates With Me

October 7th, 2015

Your opponent will be seeing red when you trounce him with the new cards in High-Speed Riders! Red Resonator, Red Sprinter, and Red Wyvern are a powerful trio of cards that work together to open up new Synchro Summoning opportunities!

SeeingRed

Red Resonator and Red Sprinter are a Level 2 Tuner and Level 4 non-Tuner respectively, each with an effect that Special Summons the other once. While both of them are included in your Deck, you’ll be able to Synchro Summon Level 6 monsters with ease!

Red Resonator lets you Special Summon a Level 4 or lower monster, including Red Sprinter, from your hand when it’s Normal Summoned. Red Sprinter, on the other hand, lets you Special Summon a Level 3 or lower Fiend-Type Tuner Monster, including Red Resonator, from your hand or Graveyard when it’s Normal Summoned or Special Summoned while you control no other monsters.

Simply Normal Summon Red Resonator and use its effect to Special Summon Red Sprinter, or Summon Red Sprinter and use its effect to Special Summon Red Resonator, and you’ll be all set for a Level 6 Synchro Summon! As an added bonus, when Red Resonator is Special Summoned (for example, by the effect of Red Sprinter) you can target 1 monster on the field and gain Life Points equal to its Attack Points.

While you can certainly Synchro Summon old Level 6 favorites, like Goyo Guardian and Orient Dragon, High-Speed Riders contains another Level 6 Synchro Monster that is certain to make the cut in many Duelists’ Extra Decks: Red Wyvern!

BigRed
Red Wyvern
is a Level 6 Tuner monster that can be Summoned by combining a Tuner with 1 or more non-Tuners. Red Wyvern boasts an impressive 2400 ATK, along with an even more impressive effect: During either player’s turn, if an opponent has a monster on the field with higher ATK than your Synchro Summoned Wyvern, you can destroy the monster on the field with the highest ATK. You can use Red Wyvern’s effect once while it’s face-up on the field.

Red Wyvern’s effect makes it the perfect card for mounting a comeback or securing a victory. When you’re behind in a Duel because your opponent’s monsters outclass your own, you can Synchro Summon Red Wyvern and use its effect to destroy your opponent’s strongest monster. When you’re ahead in a Duel because your opponent lacks a strong field, you can Synchro Summon Red Wyvern in order to make sure that any monster your opponent Summons that is stronger than your Wyvern will immediately fall to the Graveyard.

Once you’ve used your Red Wyvern’s effect, you might want to upgrade your monster into a higher-Level Synchro Monster. Two new Resonators – Synkron Resonator and Chain Resonator – in High-Speed Riders help to facilitate this play.

Synkron Resonator
is a Level 1 Tuner that you can Special Summon from your hand if you control a Synchro Monster. In addition, if Synkron Resonator is sent from your field to your Graveyard, you can add a Resonator from your Graveyard to your hand. Special Summon Synkron Resonator while you control Red Wyvern and Tune your monsters together to Synchro Summon a Level 7 monsters like Black Rose Moonlight Dragon and grab a Resonator from your Graveyard.

Chain Resonator is a Level 1 Tuner that lets you Special Summon a Resonator from your Deck (other than Chain Resonator) when it’s Normal Summoned while a Synchro Monster is on the field. Since there are Level 1 Resonators, Level 2 Resonators, and Level 3 Resonators, Normal Summoning Chain Resonator while you control a Red Wyvern opens up countless possibilities for Synchro Summons. In particular, you could use it to first turn Red Wyvern into one of the basic forms of Red Dragon Archfiend by Summoning Red Resonator (and gain 2400 LP in the process!), then use Chain Resonator to Summon Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss!

Rev up your Synchro Summons with the new Resonators and Red cards available in High-Speed Riders!
