An Ascending Sky Dragon

November 4th, 2015

In Clash of Rebellions, Pendulum Monsters began to meld with the other types of Summons, resulting in an Xyz Monster that was also a Pendulum Monster and a Pendulum Tuner monster that combined with other Pendulum Monsters to make a mighty Synchro Monster! Dimension of Chaos introduces an Xyz Monster that isn’t a Pendulum Monster, but is made of Pendulum Monsters instead!

Majester Paladin, the Ascending Dracoslayer
is a Rank 4 Xyz Monster that can be Xyz Summoned by combining 2 Level 4 Pendulum Monsters. It has 1850 Attack Points, 2000 Defense Points, and two awesome effects.

First, when Majester Paladin, the Ascending Dracoslayer is Xyz Summoned, you can add 1 Pendulum Monster from your Deck to your hand during the End Phase of the turn. Second, once per turn, you can detach an Xyz Material from Majester Paladin, the Ascending Dracoslayer to Special Summon 1 face-up “Dracoslayer” Pendulum Monster from your Extra Deck.

Since you’ll need to combine 2 Level 4 Pendulum Monsters to Xyz Summon Majester Paladin, Pendulum-based Decks with lots of Level 4 monsters will be most successful at Summoning it. Some of the most notable Level 4 Pendulum Monsters include Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer; Majespecter Fox – Kyubi; Majespecter Crow – Yata; Magical Abductor; Dragoons of Draconia; Stellarknight Zefraxciton; Igknight Templar; and Igknight Paladin.

Any Deck using a combination of these monsters, or any other Level 4 Pendulum Monster, can Summon Majester Paladin, the Ascending Dracoslayer. This includes Majespecter Decks, Igknight Decks, Zefra Decks, and other dedicated Pendulum-based Decks. Once Summoned, Majester Paladin, the Ascending Dracoslayer can tie together your Pendulum strategy by letting you search your Deck for a Pendulum Monster you need.

Majester Paladin, the Ascending Dracoslayer shines best in Pendulum-based Decks that use Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer from Clash of Rebellions.

Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer is a Level 4 Pendulum Monster with a Pendulum Scale of 5. While in the Pendulum Zone, Luster Pendulum’s effect lets you destroy the card in your other Pendulum Zone, thereby transferring it face-up to your Extra Deck, in order to add another copy of that card from your Deck to your hand. It’s also a Tuner that can only be used as a Material to make Dracoslayer monsters.

Since Luster Pendulum is currently the only “Dracoslayer” Pendulum Monster in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME, it’s also the only monster that you can Special Summon from face-up in your Extra Deck with Majester Paladin’s effect when detaching an Xyz Material from your Majester Paladin. Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer opens up a lot of cool and powerful plays for Pendulum-heavy Decks.

Here’s an example:

Suppose you Pendulum Summon Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer plus two other Level 4 Pendulum Monsters – a task that’s easy to accomplish in a Pendulum-focused Deck, especially when Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer’s Pendulum Effect is working to quickly rack up the number of face-up monsters in your Extra Deck. You can then Tune Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer with one of your other Level 4 monster, in order to Synchro Summon Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer. Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer will be added face-up to your Extra Deck.

Ignister Prominence’s effect lets you Special Summon 1 “Dracoslayer” monster from your Deck in Defense Position once per turn, as long as you don’t use that monster as a Synchro Material. Special Summon another Luster Pendulum from your Deck, and combine it with your remaining Level 4 Pendulum Monster to Xyz Summon Majester Paladin, the Ascending Dracoslayer. Next, you can detach an Xyz Material from your Majester Paladin to Special Summon Luster Pendulum back to the field from your Extra Deck. At the end of this play, you’ll have Majester Paladin, the Ascending Dracoslayer; Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer; and Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer on your field. Plus, you’ll still be able to use your Ignister Prominence’s effect to shuffle a card on the field back into your opponent’s Deck!
