Breakers of Shadow: Blown Away
Pendulum Monsters have been running hot right out of the gate in 2016! Pendulum Performages, Pendulum Performapals, and Pendulum Magicians have been rapidly gaining popularity over the past few weeks, and they’ve quickly risen to the top of the competitive tournament scene. Fortunately, two new cards in Breakers of Shadow – Twin Twisters and Pendulum Storm – are here to help combat the rise of these strategies!
Twin Twisters is a Quick-Play Spell Card that lets you discard 1 card from your hand to destroy 2 Spell or Trap Cards on the field. Its effect is simple yet powerful.
Twin Twisters can target face-up and face-down cards, making it a versatile Spell Card that’s effective against just about any Deck. But it should be no surprise that Twin Twisters is most potent against Pendulum-based strategies.
Most Decks that use lots of Pendulum Monsters are reliant on placing a card in each Pendulum Zone and then performing a successful Pendulum Summon. By activating Twin Twisters when your opponent puts 2 Pendulum Scales into place, you can completely disrupt his or strategy by destroying BOTH Pendulum Scales at once. If you can stop your opponent from successfully Pendulum Summoning any monsters, you will likely be able to annihilate your opponent.
Against Decks that are less reliant on the Pendulum mechanic, you can still tear through your opponent’s defenses with Twin Twisters. Twin Twisters will destroy powerful and popular Trap Cards, including Solemn Warning, Vanity’s Emptiness, and Torrential Tribute.
Like Twin Twisters, Pendulum Storm is a powerful card against Pendulum-based strategies.
Pendulum Storm is a Normal Spell Card that does a couple of things. First, it destroys all cards in each player’s Pendulum Zones. Then, it lets you destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card your opponent controls.
A single activation of Pendulum Storm can destroy three of your opponent’s cards. Two of those cards (the Pendulum Scales) are typically at the core of your opponent’s strategy. This makes Pendulum Storm extraordinarily powerful. Take down both of your opponent’s Pendulum Scales, plus a popular Trap Card, with Pendulum Storm.
Pendulum Monsters have been an important part of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME ever since they were first released, and they keep getting stronger. Fortunately, Twin Twisters and Pendulum Storm will help you combat Pendulum-based Decks by limiting your opponent’s ability to Pendulum Summon monsters. You can add Twin Twisters and Pendulum Storm to your Main Deck and Side Deck after Breakers of Shadow releases on January 15th!
