Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy

March 4th, 2016

For a couple years now, Divine Dragon Knight Felgrand has been the one Rank 8 Xyz Monster that’s received universal acclaim every time a Deck that field multiple Level 8 monsters comes around. In a couple weeks, it’ll be joined by a monster sure to receive at least galactic acclaim – Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy!

Number 38 has 3000 ATK and is Summoned by using any 2 Level 8 monsters as Xyz Material. The first and most important thing you get out of it is a free once per turn negation of any Spell Card or Spell effect that’s activated on the field. And not only do you get to negate the effect, you get to take that card and attach it to Number 38 as Xyz Material! This is particularly effective against Pendulum Monsters because Number 38 will grab the monster away from the Pendulum Zones and keep it out of your opponent’s Extra Deck as well.

That first ability only creates new Xyz Materials for Number 38, it doesn’t cost any to use. What you use the Xyz Materials for is to protect your other smaller monsters from attack. When your opponent’s monster declares an attack, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from Number 38 to make it the attack target and immediately perform damage calculation without giving anyone a chance to play any ATK or DEF modifying effects! You can do this any number of times per turn as long as you have Xyz Materials, making it virtually impossible to attack your weaker monsters. Use this alongside monsters like Kozmo Tincan or Kozmo Strawman so you can use their effects over and over again!

In fact, Kozmo is, in general, one of the best Decks to use Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy in. Two Komzo Dark Destroyers can be combined to make this monster, and the detached Destroyers can then be brought back by the numerous copies of Call of the Haunted and even Oasis of Dragon Souls that have been seeing play in Kozmo Decks as of late.

Of course, you can make it with any 2 Level 8 monsters, so even if you’re a fan of, say, Blue-Eyes White Dragon, you have a fun new addition to your Extra Deck waiting for you in Premium Gold: Infinite Gold!

Premium Gold: Infinite Gold launches on March 18th.
