Number 77: The Seven Sins

March 8th, 2016

Hot off the heels of the first ever Rank 12 Xyz Monster, Super Quantal Mech King Great Magnus, Premium Gold: Infinite Gold introduces another Rank 12 Xyz Monster: Number 77: The Seven Sins!

Number 77: The Seven Sins
has a massive 4000 ATK, even higher than Great Magnus, and it’s a bit easier to Summon as well. You can either use 2 Level 12 monsters as the card suggests, or a Rank 10 or 11 DARK Xyz Monster you control (and its Materials) as its Xyz Material. It’s actually even easier than that though, because the Rank 11 Xyz Monster Number 84: Pain Gainer can also be Summoned by using a Rank 8, 9, or 10 DARK Xyz Monster with 2 or more Materials as it’s, Xyz Materials. So any time you’d be able to Summon Number 23: Lancelot, Dark Knight of the Underworld you can also Summon Number 77: The Seven Sins.

What you get for that investment is the ability to banish every Special Summoned monster your opponent controls and then attach one of them to Number 77 as Xyz Materials. It costs 2 Materials to use this effect, and you can’t use it in the same turn you Summon it through its own ability (think Constellar Ptolemy M7) but it has an additional ability to save itself from destruction by detaching 1 Xyz Material each time it would be destroyed. Normally, you’ll Summon Number 77, protect it for a turn using 1 of 3 Materials, then use the other 2 to banish your opponent’s monsters and charge up to keep Number 77 protected for another turn while getting 4000 damage in.

If you need to get rid of enemy monsters right away and don’t have time to wait for Number 77’s ability to become live, you can always pause for a moment on Number 84: Pain Gainer and use its field clearing ability. Pain Gainer gains DEF equal to the total Ranks of all Xyz Monsters on the field times 200, which would be a minimum of 2200, more if your opponent has any Xyz Monsters on the field. That’s important because Pain Gainer can detach an Xyz Material to destroy all your opponent’s face-up monsters with DEF less than or equal to Pain Gainer’s DEF. Most monsters that see mainstream play have far less DEF than ATK, so 2200 is a lot bigger than it seems!

You can try out Number 77: The Seven Sins and Number 84: Pain Gainer when Premium Gold: Infinite Gold launches on March 18th!
