Dracoverload

April 5th, 2016

Two enter the ring, but only one can win. Who will it be? Draco Face-Off has been the key to many Pendulum strategies as a powerful way to consistently get access to Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer. But is that the only reason that Draco Face-Off is so good? Not even close. Draco Face-Off lets you choose whether or not you want the monster who wins to be Special Summoned or placed in your Pendulum Zone, so whatever you need Draco Face-Off to accomplish it’ll do. Next, it also sends the losing monster to the Extra Deck, meaning that when you Pendulum Summon you’ll also get to Summon whichever Draco lost as well!

Why is Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer so important? Its Pendulum Effect allows you to destroy the other card in your Pendulum Zone and search another copy! This allows you to fill your Extra Deck with another monster so that your Pendulum Summons get even bigger. It is also gives you an easy way to Synchro Summon Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer! This fiery Synchro Monster does everything you could want it to do. It can destroy opposing Pendulums, shuffle back pesky cards that you could not target otherwise, and lets you recruit more Dracoslayers to the field by Special Summoning one from your Deck.

There is much more to Draco Face-Off than just finding Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer though. You’ll need to use a Dracoverlord as well, and that’s where Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord comes in. It has a solid 1850 ATK and a useful Pendulum Effect that stops your opponent’s Pendulum Effects, so it’s great if you expect to face a lot of Pendulum strategies. Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer isn’t the only Dracoslayer though, as his journeys have led him to uncover the secrets of Dragon Alchemy thus becoming Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer! Even stronger than his previous incarnation, Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer has 1950 ATK which is just enough to defeat the evil Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord. It also has a solid Pendulum Effect that allows you to destroy any card in the Pendulum Zone, so whether it be yours or your opponent’s, Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer can slay it.

It doesn’t stop there though, as both Dinoster Powerful, the Mighty Dracoslayer and Majester Paladin, the Ascending Dracoslayer give you a ton of Extra Deck options. Dinoster Powerful, the Mighty Dracoslayer is a key to many Pendulum combos because it allows you to fill your Extra Deck by Tributing away your Dracoslayer Pendulum Monster along with another Pendulum Monster before you Pendulum Summon, much like Draco Face-Off. It also has two awesome effects, the first protecting your Pendulum Monsters and cards in your Pendulum Zone from destruction! The next one allows you to Special Summon a fallen Dracoslayer that has hit the Graveyard, which is likely to happen if you plan to Xyz Summon as well. Speaking of Xyz Summon, Majester Paladin, the Ascending Dracoslayer lets you to search any Pendulum Monster during the End Phase, giving you a way to find anything you might need in a tight spot. Much like the other Dracoslayer Extra Deck Monsters, it can also bring out even more Dracoslayers, but this time by Special Summoning one from your Extra Deck.

Want to get in on this Dracopportunity? Most of these cards are centrally located in Premium Gold: Infinite Gold, while Dinoster Powerful, the Mighty Dracoslayer and Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer are in Breakers of Shadow. Even if you’re not planning on using these cards, they’re such a big part of today’s competitions that you’ve got to know how they work.
