An Arm, But Not a Leg
What would you give up in order to grab any Spell you need from your Deck? In the Battle City Tournament, Marik would do anything to get his hands on Monster Reborn, including throw away his entire hand with Left Arm Offering! If there’s a Spell Card that you’d be willing to go that far for, you’ll have the chance to prove it on Friday when Left Arm Offering makes its real-world debut in the Millennium Pack!
To grant yourself the boon of Left Arm Offering, you need to be totally committed to the Spell Card you want to search out. You have to banish your entire hand, and not just a tiny 0 or 1 card hand either, you need to have at least 2 other cards in your hand when you activate it. And don’t think you can get around it by Setting your best Spell/Trap Cards first either because you can’t Set any Spell/Trap Cards during the turn you play Left Arm Offering. What you get in return is any Spell Card from your Deck, even a powerful Limited Spell Card like Raigeki or Reasoning.
Of course, that’s not to say that there aren’t a few ways to skirt around the requirements of Left Arm Offering. There are cards like Destiny HERO – Diamond Dude that let you bypass activation conditions and costs of Spell Cards, allowing you to get all of the upside with none of the drawbacks, and you can always play Left Arm Offering in Decks where your cards don’t mind being banished.
Kozmo Decks come to mind as an example of a Deck that barely notices when its monsters are banished. Allure of Darkness was becoming more and more popular before it became Semi-Limited because Kozmotown can just retrieve the DARK monster you banish. With Left Arm Offering, you could just go get Kozmotown and start retrieving the monsters you banished. Infernoids live and die off of Infernoid Decatron and Reasoning. Reasoning is now Limited, but it’s also now searchable by Left Arm Offering if you’re willing to give up your whole hand to go get it.
But both of those cards pale in comparison to Soul Charge, the card that’s likely to be the number 1 most searched Spell Card with Left Arm Offering! There are many 2 card combos out there involving Soul Charge that can do incredible things… they just rarely ever happen because Soul Charge is Limited. With Left Arm Offering, you trade the ability to back up your power play for the chance to do it in the first place.
Is such a combo worthwhile if you have to get rid of all the cards you’d normally use to protect it? That’s up for you to decide, starting this Friday when Millennium Pack launches!
