What’s in the 2016 Mega-Packs?

August 31st, 2016

The 2016 Mega-Tins give you another chance at getting some of the most sought after cards from the 2015-2016 Dueling season! In addition to getting 6 variant cards in every Tin, which, depending on which tin you get, can include tournament standouts like Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit or Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer, you’ll also get three 14-card Mega-Packs, each of which has 10 Commons, 1 Rare, 1 Super Rare, 1 Ultra Rare, and 1 Secret Rare! Here’s a look at four of the Secret Rares that are making a second appearance in this year’s Mega-Tins!

Solemn Strike doesn’t really need much introduction. It instantly found a home in high-level competition as an aggressively costed option to negate monster effects and Pendulum Summons. Even Duelists using Pendulum Decks couldn’t get enough of Solemn Strike! Some of them went as far as to include multiple copies of Guiding Ariadne to help search out the various “Solemn” Counter Traps and/or not have to pay LP to activate them.

Clear Wing Synchro Dragon made an immediate impact upon its release. Crossed Souls came out in a time when Level 5 or higher monsters were everywhere. Being able to negate the devastating abilities of Nekroz of Trishula and Nekroz of Clausolas gave Duelists looking to fight against the powerful Nekroz Deck an abnormal method of doing so that other Decks had a hard time preparing for. It’s also the “intended” non-Tuner Synchro Monster that’s used to Synchro Summon Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon!

Now that the Metalfoes have arrived on the scene, Painful Decision is sure to be more popular than ever in Pendulum Decks. Whether you’re searching for “Metalfoes” monsters or Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer, Painful Decision is primed to be a big part of Pendulum strategies in the future, so make sure to pick it up this time around if you missed it in Dimension of Chaos.

Finally, Cyber Dragon Infinity makes a grand reappearance in the 2016 Mega-Packs! This mechanical menace fell out of popularity as Pendulum and Kozmo strategies became less popular, but the successes of Erik Christensen and Travis Smith at the World Championship using Cyber Dragon Infinity in their Blue-Eyes Decks has led to a surge of Duelists looking to try out the hot new Galaxy Soldier tech for themselves!

In addition to these 4 cards, there are 11 other Secret Rares that were chosen to appear in this year’s Mega-Packs! You’ll be able to find out what they are when the 2016 Mega-Tins launch on Friday!
