Destiny Soldiers: Sinister Spells and Traps
Previously on the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME Strategy Site, we took a look at the new Darklord monsters that will soon be available in Destiny Soldiers. Those Darklord monsters have lots of cool effects, including the ability to use Darklord Spell & Trap Cards from the Graveyard. Today, we’ll take a look at the four Spell & Trap Card effects that Darklord Ixchel, Darklord Tezcatlipoca, Darklord Nasten, and Darklord Amdusc can copy when they’re on the field.
The two new Darklord Spell Cards in Destiny Soldiers are Banishment of the Darklords and Darklord Contact
Each of these Spell Cards has a simple yet powerful effect.
Banishment of the Darklords lets you add any Darklord card from your Deck to your hand. That makes it the perfect card for smoothing out your draws in your Darklord Deck, and getting the cards you need.
Darklord Contact lets you Special Summon any Darklord monster from your Graveyard in Defense Position. It’s easy to send Darklord monsters to your Graveyard, since so many of them have effects that let you discard them from your hand. Once they’re in the Graveyard, you can Special Summon them right back to the field with Darklord Contact. Special Summon Ixchel, Tezcatlipoca, Nasten, or Amdusc to the field with Darklord Contact, and any one of their effects will give you full access to the effects of the Darklord Spell & Trap Cards in your Graveyard. In an ideal world, however, you’d be Summoning Darklord Superbia first, which would in turn Summon one of the new Darklords in either Attack Position or Defense Position.
The two new Darklord Trap Cards in Destiny Soldiers are Darklord Rebellion and Darklord Enchantment.
Darklord Rebellion lets you send a Darklord monster from your hand or from face-up on your field to the Graveyard to destroy 1 card on the field. Darklord Enchantment lets you send a Darklord monster from your hand or from face-up on your field to the Graveyard to take control of an opponent’s face-up monster until the End Phase.
Whereas Banishment of the Darklords and Darklord Contact give you the cards you need to get your Darklord strategy going, Darklord Rebellion and Darklord Enchantment let you use your Darklords to disrupt your opponent’s plays. Copying the effect of any one of these four cards by using the effect of Ixchel, Tezcatlipoca, Nasten, or Amdusc can prove invaluable during the course of a Duel. You really want to be copying the Traps more than activating them because the new Darklords only apply the effects of the Trap Card, allowing you to skip the cost of sending a “Darklord” monster to the Graveyard.
There are lots of Darklord cards with powerful effects in Destiny Soldiers, and the right combination of those cards can be insurmountable for an opponent. In order to help you draw the Darklord cards you need, Destiny Soldiers also includes two extremely popular “Draw 2” Spells that aren’t tied to any one theme: Allure of Darkness and Trade-In. Since all of the Darklord monsters are DARK monsters, you can use Allure of Darkness to speed through your Deck and draw the perfect combination of cards. Darklord Superbia, Darklord Zerato, and Darklord Asmodeus are all Level 8, and you’re bound to use at least some of them.
The new Darklord cards in Destiny Soldiers are extremely powerful, and are likely to make a splash at least at the Regional level if not higher. You can try them out after Destiny Soldiers releases on Friday!
