Maximum Crisis: The Draconflict Escalates!

April 24th, 2017

Yesterday we showed you the stunning support cards that serve the True Draco theme with search effects and Special Summons.  Today we’re going to show you the payoff: three awesome boss monsters, a new addition to the True King ranks, a killer recruiter, and one of the best Field Spells ever printed.

Dragonic Diagram is an incredible Field Spell with three different effects: it buffs “True Draco” and “True King” monsters by 300 ATK and DEF; it protects your “True Draco” and “True King” monsters from battle once per turn if they were Tribute Summoned; and it lets you destroy a card from your hand or field – any card – to search your Deck for a “True Draco” or “True King” so you can add it to your hand.

A lot of different strategies can play Dragonic Diagram just to get to True Kings.  It’s going to be huge in the True King Dinosaur Deck, where it destroys Babycerasaurus and Petiteranodon to trigger their effects and search True King Lithosagym, the Disaster.  But it’s most at home with True Dracos, where its stat-boosting effect can put in the most work, and its protection will force your opponent to give you free searches with the monsters from yesterday.

All the “True King” monsters have powerful abilities when they’re destroyed by a card effect, so Dragonic Diagram can help you get to the cards you need while trading those big monsters for searches and Special Summons.  Mariamne the True Dracophoenix isn’t a “True King” monster, but it works the same way: it’s a Level 9; its 2700 ATK and 2100 DEF add up to the 4800 points combined, like the rest of the squad; and you Special Summon it by destroying two of your other monsters.

It’s also got an extra effect just like the True Kings, which triggers if you destroy two WIND monsters to Special Summon it: Mariamne banishes four cards from the top of your opponent’s Deck.  And when it’s destroyed by a card effect – like Dragonic Diagram – you can grab a non-WIND Wyrm-Type from your Deck.  As a WIND monster itself, Mariamne closes out the four-Attribute “True King” Quartet.

You can use Diagram to search Dreiath III, the True Dracocavalry General as well: a Level 6 True Draco with 2100 ATK, 2800 DEF, and the same signature ability that lets you Tribute Continuous Spells and Traps instead of monsters to Tribute Summon it.  When Dreiath’s on the field your opponent can’t target your face-up True Dracos and True Kings with card effects except for Dreiath, and they can’t be destroyed by your opponent’s card effects.

Better yet, if you Tribute Summon Dreiath and it leaves the field for any reason – even if you just Tribute it off for a Tribute Summon – you can Special Summon a True Draco or True King straight from your Deck.  No restrictions.

These three monsters are the champions of the True Draco and True King themes. Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King is a huge Level 8 with 2950 ATK and DEF.  You can Tribute Summon it with monsters or Continuous Spells and Traps, and it’s immune to the effects of cards with the same card type.  Tribute Summon it with a Continuous Spell and it can’t be affected by Raigeki, Forbidden Chalice, or Book of Moon.  Use a Continuous Trap and it’ll swing clean through Torrential Tribute, Storming Mirror Force, or Compulsory Evacuation Device.

Better yet, if you Tribute Summoned Master Peace it gets a Quick Effect that lets you banish a Continuous Spell or Trap from your Graveyard to destroy any one card on the field.  Since that’s a Quick Effect it works at any time, on either player’s turn.  Brutal.

Metaltron XII, the True Dracombatant is even bigger, clocking in at Level 9 with 3000 ATK and DEF.  This one requires three Tributes to Normal Summon, but like the rest of the True Draco crew you can use monsters, Spells, or Trap Cards as Tribute.  Like Master Peace, it gets immunity to whatever card type you Tribute Summon it with: monsters, Spells, or Traps.

If you Tribute Summon Metaltron and it’s somehow destroyed by your opponent’s card, you can Special Summon a Fusion, Synchro, or XYZ Monster with the EARTH, WATER, FIRE, or WIND Attribute from your Extra Deck.  Literally anything you want.  Combined with its immunity effect protecting it from effects, your opponents will have a really tough time getting Metaltron out of the way.  If they just destroy it they’re going to face something even worse.

Last but not least, True King of All Calamities is a Rank 9 Xyz you can make by overlaying two or more Level 9’s.  Once per turn, during either player’s turn, you can detach an Xyz Material from it and name an Attribute: that turn, all face-up monsters on the field become that Attribute, and all opposing monsters with that Attribte can’t attack or activate their effects.

And if locking up your opponent’s board isn’t enough, Calamities has one more power: Monsters that you’d destroy with the effects of “True Draco” and “True King” monsters in your hand can come from your opponent’s field instead of yours.  You get to Special Summon your True Kings by popping your opponent’s monsters.  Craziness.

The “True Draco” monsters are a huge new addition to the game, both on their own and played with other themes.  With the True Kings now assembled, competitive Dueling is about to get swerved in a big way.  Get your True Dracos and all their new support this weekend at the Maximum Crisis Sneak Peek.
