Maximum Crisis: One Big Swing
The Duelist Alliance booster set revolutionized the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME by introducing Pendulum Monsters and Pendulum Summoning. Now – nearly three years after the release of the Duelist Alliance booster set – the Duelist Alliance Spell Card is about to be released in Maximum Crisis, enhancing strategies built around Pendulum Summoning.
Duelist Alliance is simple yet powerful. It’s a Spell Card that lets you add a “Pendulum” Pendulum Monster or “Pendulum” Spell/Trap Card from your Deck to your hand if there’s a card in the Pendulum Zone.
Duelist Alliance’s strength lies in its versatility. Since it can grab just about any card from the Deck with “Pendulum” in its name, you can use it to pick up the card you need in any given situation.
A successful Pendulum Summon requires you to have two Pendulum Scales in your Pendulum Zones. One must be a low scale, and the other must be a high scale. That way, you can Pendulum Summon monsters with Levels between the numbers of those two scales.
There only needs to be one card in the Pendulum Zone to activate Duelist Alliance. If you have a low scale in the Pendulum Zone, you can use Duelist Alliance to search your Deck for a “Pendulum” Pendulum monster that has a high scale, like Lector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord (Pendulum Scale 5) or Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer (Pendulum Scale 5). If you have a high scale in the Pendulum Zone, you can use Duelist Alliance to search your Deck for a “Pendulum” Pendulum monster that has a low scale, like Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer (Pendulum Scale 3), Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord (Pendulum Scale 3), or Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer (Pendulum Scale 2). If you’re looking for a different Pendulum Monster entirely, you may consider taking Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon instead, and using its Pendulum Effect to trade it in for a low ATK Pendulum Monster of your choosing.
Even though Duelist Alliance can’t directly grab “Magician” Pendulum Monsters from the Deck, you can use it to add the Limited Spell Card, Pendulum Call, from your Deck to your hand.
Pendulum Call lets you add two “Magician” Pendulum Monsters from your Deck to your hand, including Dragonpulse Magician (Pendulum Scale 1) and Dragonpit Magician (Pendulum Scale 8), indirectly broadening the breadth of cards to which Duelist Alliance will give you access.
If your Pendulum Zones are full and you don’t need any more Pendulum Monsters in your hand, you can use Duelist Alliance to add a Spell or Trap Card like Pendulum Storm or Pendulum Reborn to your hand instead.
Duelist Alliance is a great card for empowering Pendulum strategies. You can get your hands on it at the Maximum Crisis Sneak Peek on April 29th and 30th!
