Maximum Crisis: Xyz Monsters Anyone Can Use!

April 25th, 2017

Maximum Crisis may have some great cards for themes old and new, but Duelists often keep an eye out for cards they can use in any of their Decks. Today, we’re featuring 2 new Xyz Monsters, an all-new Rank 4 and a Rank 1 Xyz Monster, which give you easy ways to destroy your opponent’s Spells and Traps and gain access to your own!

Tornado Dragon is our first Xyz Monster on the list, and it’s a World Premiere Rank 4 Xyz Monster. You can use any 2 Level 4 monsters to Xyz Summon this 2100 ATK monster, which gives you access to a simple but powerful effect. Once per turn, during either player’s turn, you can detach 1 Xyz Material to target 1 Spell/Trap Card on the field and destroy it! Tornado Dragon is Mystical Space Typhoon on legs, giving you the ability to swap either of its Xyz Materials for quick removal of any Spell or Trap Card. It’s especially powerful against Continuous, Equip, Field, and cards in the Pendulum Zones, since their effects won’t work if they’re destroyed before they resolve!

Rank 4 Xyz Monsters have always been easy to Summon, especially when you don’t need specific Xyz Materials! Decks from SPYRAL to Zoodiac can make excellent use of this card, since they have the ability to Special Summon their key Level 4 monsters. That being said, it’s a great inclusion in any Deck that can output Rank 4 Xyz Monsters as another removal option.

The second card we’ll be talking about today is a little more complex, since it belongs to a Deck theme but you can play it effectively in any Deck you like! Sylvan Princessprite is an all-new Rank 1 Xyz Monster that you’ll need any 2 Level 1 monsters to Xyz Summon. The first effect of Princessprite allows you to detach 1 Xyz Material from her, to excavate the top card of your Deck. If it’s a Spell or Trap Card, you’ll add it to hand, and if not it’ll go to the Graveyard. This has two great uses, both of which can help you out a ton. Drawing a Spell/Trap Card is always great, since you can grab a game-changing card like Raigeki right off the top and completely turn the game around! Alternatively, if you don’t draw a Spell or Trap, the card goes to the Graveyard, which isn’t all bad. Decks like Skull Servants and SPYRALs are happy to load up their Graveyard with monsters as they can either recycle them or use them from the Graveyard. Of course, Sylvan Decks can manage this effect easily with Sylvan Charity, by guaranteeing to draw a Spell/Trap, or sending a monster of their choice based on their needs. Ditching a Sylvan monster with this effect will trigger any of them, and Sylvan Princessprite makes using the monsters you send to the Graveyard even easier too!

The second effect of Sylvan Princessprite is reserved for Sylvan Decks, and it’s a great effect to have access to. You can send 1 other Plant-type monster from your hand or field to the Graveyard, and Special Summon a “Sylvan” monster from your Graveyard! You can use this to bring back a heavy hitter and wreak havoc on your opponent, or set up for more excavations by grabbing whatever Sylvan monster you need.

There are tons of great new cards to check out in Maximum Crisis! If you need to boost the power of your Extra Deck, you should definitely check out these 2 new Xyz Monsters starting at the Sneak Peeks this weekend!
