Legendary Dragon Decks: Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon

September 30th, 2017

Zane Truesdale’s legendary Cyber Dragon is one of the featured strategies in the upcoming Legendary Dragon Decks, and for good reason! Not only did Zane show the true power of Cyber Dragon – ever since its release way back in 2005’s Cybernetic Revolution, it has been an important part of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME. Over the years, it’s been used as a high ATK beater, an easy way to get a Tribute Summon, a powerful Fusion Material, a way to punish opposing Machines, and a Rank 5 Xyz enabler. Starting with the LEDD, Cyber Dragon will take on a new role, a way to control the Extra Monster Zone! Introducing Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon!

Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon is reminiscent of Chimeratech Fortress Dragon, a card which stills sees play to keep Kozmo, ABC, Ancient Gear, and other Machine Decks in check. Much like Fortress, Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon can be brought into play using monsters under either player’s control! All you need is a “Cyber Dragon” monster and any monster(s) in the Extra Monster Zone – you don’t even need to bother with Polymerization. Once it hits the field, Megafleet’s ATK will become 1200 times the number of Fusion Materials, so it will always have either 2400 or 3600 ATK. Plus, since Megafleet can’t be used as a Fusion Material, you never have to worry about your opponent using it for their own Megafleet or Fortress Dragons.

Let’s look at a normal scenario. Your opponent has a Decode Talker in play, pointing to two monsters. It’s a high ATK monster with built in protection – what do you do? You simply Special Summon Cyber Dragon, fuse it with your opponent’s Decode Talker, and fight back with your new 2400 ATK monster! Since you’re not destroying anything or using a card effect, Megafleet is a great way to get around the effects of cards like Gouki the Great Ogre, Beelze of the Diabolic Dragons, and Cyber Dragon Nova.

There’s another interesting thing about Cyber Dragon Nova. Notice that Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon doesn’t require Cyber Dragon – rather, it requires a “Cyber Dragon” monster. Any card with “Cyber Dragon” as part of its name counts! If your opponent controls Cyber Dragon Nova or Cyber Dragon Infinity you can use that monster as your requisite Cyber Dragon, and use your own monster in the Extra Monster Zone for the other material. A one-material Link Spider or Imduk the World Chalice Dragon are good options.

Of course, this also means you can Special Summon Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon using Toon Cyber Dragon! This version is much cuter, so you should definitekly use it. You won’t need Toon World to play it, and you can even search it out with Toon Table of Contents. Its inability to attack right away makes it a perfect Fusion Material for Megafleet. If you’re trying to maximize your number of Cyber Dragons and have Megafleet online as often as possible, you’ll want to seriously consider this adorable guy. Cyber Dragon Core makes another excellent Fusion Material. Normal Summon it and use it to play Megafleet, then banish it from the Graveyard later in the Duel to do it again! Core especially shines in a more dedicated Cyber Dragon Deck, where it can search out Cyber Repair Plant.

Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon is looking to be a very powerful threat, and it’s available to any Duelist who can play a Cyber Dragon! You’ll find Megafleet and a suite of Cyber Dragon cards in Legendary Dragon Decks, releasing October 6th!
