Cybernetic Horizon: Morning Will Come
In today’s Cybernetic Horizon preview, we’re gearing up for more Mekk-Knight action! Introducing Mekk-Knight of the Morning Star, a brand new Link Monster that channels the power of the World Legacy and defends your Mekk-Knights!
The Link-2 Mekk-Knight of the Morning Star can be Link Summoned using a Mekk-Knight and any other monster. That means it’s easily played in dedicated Mekk-Knight Decks, as well as any Deck that simply splashes some Mekk-Knights such as the combination Mekk-Knight Invoked strategy or a Deck playing Mekk-Knight Avram. Since Morning Star is only a Link-2 monster, it’s a welcome addition to the Mekk-Knight strategy and easily Summoned with the aid of World Legacy’s Memory. They already had Mekk-Knight Spectrum Supreme, but Spectrum is a significantly harder to Summon Link-3 monster. Now you’ll be able to make a play into Morning Star, use its effects as necessary, then upgrade Morning Star into Spectrum Supreme when you’re ready.
Mekk-Knight of the Morning Star’s first effect makes it a great choice in Mekk-Knight Decks as well as other strategies using World Legacy cards, such as World Chalice. If you Link Summon Mekk-Knight of the Morning Star, you can discard any Mekk-Knight or World Legacy card to add any World Legacy card from your Deck to your hand! In a Mekk-Knight strategy, you’ll be able to search out key cards like World Legacy’s Secret or World Legacy Scars. Mekk-Knight of the Morning Star works especially well with World Legacy Scars, since you can discard to add another Mekk-Knight to your Graveyard, and Morning Star itself is another unique name for Scars. You can even discard World Legacy – “World Chalice” to search for a new card, then banish the Chalice to search for another card next turn.
Of special note is that you can also search for World Legacy Succession from Flames of Destruction. Since you searched it out with Morning Star, you already have a Link Monster in play. That makes World Legacy Succession a searchable Monster Reborn! Things don’t get too much better than that.
The second effect of Mekk-Knight of the Morning Star protects itself and any other Mekk-Knights you have. If one of your Mekk-Knights battles a monster that isn’t in the same column as it, your Mekk-Knight can’t be destroyed and you can’t take any battle damage! You can Special Summon Morning Star and other Mekk-Knights strategically in relation to your opponent’s monsters, dodging all the dangerous combat while you take control of the game. With Mekk-Knight Indigo Eclipse you can even change zones in response to a declared attack! Pair Morning Star and Indigo Eclipse with Mekk-Knight Purple Nightfall to temporarily banish any endangered Mekk-Knight, and your monsters will be nearly indestructible!
Since the goal of the Mekk-Knight strategy is to manipulate the zones of the field, and Morning Star forces your opponent to place monsters in specific zones to have a chance in the Battle Phase, you’ll now be primed to use World Legacy’s Secret as well! The combination of Morning Star and Secret means if your opponent ever wants to win a battle, they’ll have to deal with a one-sided Skill Drain on those monsters. The fact that Morning Star can actually search for World Legacy’s Secret is actually just nuts.
Of course, searching for World Legacy Whispers or World Legacy Key to negate Spells or Traps is powerful as well, especially if you’ve already drawn Secret. Have Morning Star search out the card that’s most suited to your current matchup, and force your opponent into making awkward plays to get around your many negation tools. Or, if the situation is right, just go for the power play with World Legacy Succession.
The powerful Mekk-Knight of the Morning Star is an amazing card in Mekk-Knight Decks, and can be played to great effect in any World Legacy strategy. You can find it in Cybernetic Horizon, launching July 27th!
