Order of the Spellcasters: The Mighty Master of Magic!
Endymion and his army of Spellcasters return in Structure Deck: Order of the Spellcasters. Now infused with the power of magic, the Master Magician has ascended from his previous form into a Pendulum Monster: Endymion, the Mighty Master of Magic!
Endymion, the Mighty Master of Magic utilizes the lost art of Spell Counters to enable the power of him and his followers. While traditionally your goal would be to Pendulum Summon a large monster like Endymion, he has a built-in effect to Summon himself and invoke his might. The Pendulum Effect will let Special Summon Endymion from the Pendulum Zone by removing 6 Spell Counters from the Field, then you can destroy cards on the field equal to the number of cards you control with Spell Counters on them! With a Deck focused on amassing Spell Counters, it’s very easy to get to 6 anywhere on the field. If you can ramp it up a bit and spread around the Spell Counters, Endymion can potentially wipe out your opponent’s field as soon as it hits the Monster Zone!
From there, Endymion is even more disruptive as a monster. Once per turn, when a Spell/Trap Card or effect is activated, you can return a card you control with a Spell Counter to the hand to negate and destroy it! After that, you get to place the same number of Spell Counters that were on that card onto Endymion. Not only does Endymion come down and clear away your opponent’s cards, but it makes it even harder for them to climb back in the game. If that wasn’t enough, Endymion has two more effects that make it even harder to deal with. While it has a Spell Counter, your opponent can’t target or destroy it with card effects. This makes strategies that rely heavily on targeting effects to remove problem cards, like Sky Striker, jump through a ton of hoops to get rid of Endymion. If he is destroyed by battle when it has a Spell Counter, you can add a Normal Spell from your Deck to your hand as well, making it easy to find a card that will get you more Spell Counters so you can jump right back into the game.
To make sure you always have Endymion, the Mighty Master of Magic in the Monster Zone, you can recruit the aid of these three brand-new monsters from Structure Deck: Order of the Spellcasters. Reflection of Endymion, Magister of Endymion, and Servant of Endymion all have similar Pendulum Effects to help Summon Endymion, the Mighty Master of Magic or your other Endymion monsters. Each gets a Spell Counter every time a Spell Card resolves, and then by removing 3 Spell Counters from it, can Special Summon itself and a monster from somewhere. You can only Special Summon monsters who can carry a Spell Counter, but as an added upside you’ll get to place a Spell Counter on that new monster along with whichever Endymion monster Summoned it. Reflection of Endymion Special Summons monsters from the hand, Magister of Endymion Special Summons monsters face-up in the Extra Deck, and Servant of Endymion Special Summons monsters with 1000 or more ATK from your Deck. All of these in combination make it not only easy to Summon Endymion, the Mighty Master of Magic, but also Summon more monsters that you can use as materials for something like Heavy Metalfoes Electrumite.
Each of these also have Monster Effects that can have a big impact on the game. Reflection of Endymion can help clear away your opponent’s cards, Magister of Endymion has another effect to Special Summon a monster from your Deck, and Servant of Endymion can spread Spell Counters on each card you control. Even if your opponent decides to destroy them, they each have an effect that can help you stay in the game.
Endymion has mastered a new Spell since we last saw him, and Spell Power Mastery is exactly the kind of card you want to play in this strategy. Spell Power Grasp was a solid card for cheating an extra Spell Counter on the field, but Spell Power Mastery does that and a whole lot more. You can add any Endymion card from your Deck to your hand, making it a consistent way to grab whatever you need to get your game plan online. After that, you’ll not only get to add a Spell Counter on your Endymion cards because a Spell resolved, but you’ll also get to count the total number of Spell Power Mastery and Spell Power Grasp you control and in your Graveyard then place that many Spell Counters among cards you control! Even without another copy of Spell Power Mastery, you’ll still be able to find whatever card you’re looking for and get an extra Spell Counter for its effect because you control a Spell Power Mastery by activating it, and that’s before any of your Endymion effects will trigger. Your second and third copy of Spell Power Mastery will do even more for you when you need them in the mid and late game!
