Dark Neostorm: Heavy Metal

May 1st, 2019

We have two all-new Orcust cards arriving in Dark Neostorm! Both cards will fit perfectly into existing Orcust strategies without requiring changes to your Deck. They’re also both strong enough to merit strategizing around, and play well with non-Orcust cards too.

Let’s get started with Orcust Crescendo!

Orcust Crescendo has two effects: one on the field and one in the Graveyard. First, you can activate this Counter Trap Card in response to the activation of any Spell or Trap Card, or a monster’s effect, while you control an Orcust Link Monster. Orcust Crescendo will negate that card’s effect and banish it!

Your bread-and-butter combo for using Orcust Crescendo is the same one you already use in an Orcust strategy. Play Knightmare Mermaid and Special Summon Orcust Knightmare, then use both to play Galatea, the Orcust Automaton. With Galatea’s effect you can Set Orcust Crescendo directly from your Deck, and it can be activated while you still control Galatea or another Orcust Link Monster. Galatea searches for Crescendo, and Crescendo protects Galatea. It’s a match Orcustrated in heaven.

Orcust Crescendo’s second effect can be used by banishing it from the Graveyard. You can get it in the Graveyard by activating it or sending it with a card like Orcustrated Babel. By banishing Crescendo, you can add any DARK Machine to your hand, either from your banished monsters or from your Deck! You can get any Orcust monster, but your options are much more open than just that. Feel free to add to your hand Cyber-Stein, Orbital Hydralander, or World Legacy – “World Wand” or the other legendary World Legacy Machines.

Up next, it’s the first ever Orcust Xyz Monster! We’ve watched the journey of Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior, from the time he was first Beckoned by the World Chalice to when he became Longirsu, the Orcust Orchestrator. Now, his newest form as Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star!

Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star is a Rank 8 Xyz Monster, and can be Xyz Summoned using any two Level 8 monsters, making it an option for many strategies outside of just Orcusts. However, you can more easily play Dingirsu with its secondary Summoning method, using any Orcust Link Monster as the material instead. It’s very easy to play out your standard Knightmare Mermaid + Orcust Knightmare combo into Galatea, the Orcust Automaton, then play Dingirsu to top it off.

Dingirsu has a handful of effects to aid you. First, a continuous effect to protect any cards on your field. If one or more of your cards would by destroyed, whether by battle or a card effect, you can detach one of Dingirsu’s Xyz Materials instead. This is a flexible effect that will save your cards from a variety of dangers.

You can activate Dingirsu’s next effect at the time it is Special Summoned. You’ll pick from two options. The first option is to send any of your opponent’s cards to the Graveyard. This is not a targeting effect, making it especially strong. Your second choice is that you can attach any of your banished Machine monsters to Dingirsu as an Xyz Material. This is a way to fuel Dingirsu’s anti-destruction effect while also getting a banished Machine back into your Graveyard. Use it to make further use of Orcust Cymbal Skeleton, Cyber Dragon Core, or World Legacy – “World Wand”.

Since Dingirsu’s effect activates any time it is Special Summoned, you can make use of it multiple times over the course of a Duel. Once Dingirsu ends up in your Graveyard, you can Special Summon it with Orcust Cymbal Skeleton to use the effect once more. When Dingirsu is Special Summoned, you can send a card to the Graveyard or attach the same banished Cymbal Skeleton as an Xyz Material, allowing you to repeat the play again later. Add Orcustrated Babel to the mix, and you’ve got a nearly impenetrable wall! Dingirsu will protect itself and Babel, while reattaching Cymbal Skeleton or taking out a card each time it comes back.

These new Orcust cards will make an excellent addition to any Orcust Deck and even play great in other Machine Decks. Orcustrate your own strategies with these two in Dark Neostorm, releasing tomorrow at Official Tournament Stores and Friday everywhere else!
