Ancient Prophecy Cards: White Night Dragon

February 10th, 2010

“White Night Dragon” is a Level 8 Dragon-Type monster that was released in the Ancient Prophecy booster set. With 3000 ATK and 2500 DEF, “White Night Dragon” can go toe to toe with some of the most legendary monsters in the game.  It also has an effect that keeps it safe from some of the most commonly played Spell and Trap Cards.

“White Night Dragon” can negate any Spell or Trap Card that targets it. “Dimensional Prison,” “Phoenix Wing Wind Blast,” and “Book of Moon” are all powerless against “White Night Dragon.” Read more…

Card Guard

January 14th, 2010

Low-Level monsters with high ATK have always been included in competitive Decks. Ancient Prophecy brought us a new Level 4 monster with great stats and an awesome effect called “Card Guard.”

“Card Guard” has 1600 ATK, but as soon as it’s Summoned to the field, it gets a Guard Counter. The Guard Counter gives it an extra 300 ATK, immediately boosting it to 1900 ATK! “Card Guard” can also give its Guard Counter to a different face-up card you control.

When a card other than “Card Guard” has a Guard Counter on it, that card can’t be destroyed! Instead, you remove the Guard Counter from that card when it would be destroyed. Read more…

Ancient Prophecy: Koa’ki Meiru Gravirose

December 10th, 2009

Plant Decks can have some of the strongest opening plays around. If you’re using a Plant Deck, you can Summon “Lonefire Blossom” on your first turn, then Tribute it to Summon “Tytannial, Princess of Camellias” from your Deck. No other Deck can Summon a 2800 ATK Monster Card so easily.

But what happens if you don’t draw “Lonefire Blossom” in your opening hand? Up until recently, most Plant Decks struggled when they didn’t start the game with “Lonefire Blossom.” “Lonefire Blossom” is needed to fill your Graveyard with Plant monsters so that you can activate cards like “Mark of the Rose” and “Miracle Fertilizer.” Most Plant Duelists also relied on Special Summoning Tytannial or “Gigaplant” from the Deck as their heavy hitters. Thanks to Ancient Prophecy, Plant Decks now have another option when “Lonefire Blossom” isn’t around: “Koa’ki Meiru Gravirose.” Read more…

Ancient Prophecy: Vayu the Emblem of Honor

November 24th, 2009

On September 1, the powerful Tuner monster “Blackwing – Gale the Whirlwind” was added to the Limited Cards list. Luckily for Blackwing Duelists, a new Tuner monster became available in Ancient Prophecy: “Blackwing – Vayu the Emblem of Honor.” Vayu isn’t like most Tuners, though. Its effect prevents you from using it as a Tuner while it’s on the field. Instead, you use it to Special Summon Synchro Monsters while it’s in the Graveyard.
