Today marks the release of Structure Deck: Marik, the first Deck based on a character rather than a particular strategy in years. Marik was quite literally a man possessed, controlled by the darkness and hatred in his heart thanks to the Millennium Rod. His Deck in the TV show was largely based on Summoning The Winged Dragon of Ra and doing terrible things to people with it, but since no one condones drive-by Shadow Realm-ings, Structure Deck: Marik offers a sampling of his different strategies and personalities instead.

Obelisk the Tormentor was the first Egyptian God Card to appear in the Yu-Gi-Oh! animated series. Marik’s sister, Ishizu Ishtar, protected Obelisk from the Rare Hunters, and gave it to Kaiba to use in the Battle City Tournament. The Egyptian God Cards are three of the most powerful monsters to ever exist within the Yu-Gi-Oh world. Among them, the strongest of the three is The Winged Dragon of Ra. During Seto Kaiba’s Battle City tournament, Obelisk the Tormentor, Slifer the Sky Dragon, and The Winged Dragon of Ra were all trump cards used by the best Duelists the world had to offer. Such power is not easy to use however, as anyone who watched the original Yu-Gi-Oh animated series would know. The only people able to control an Egyptian God Card are those with very strong ties to Ancient Egypt. This isn’t the only protective seal around The Winged Dragon of Ra, however.
