I’ve been a huge fan of Machines ever since Gadgets were released in Structure Deck: Machine Re-Volt over 6 years ago. Machine-type monsters work well together, and can easily assemble the right monsters for any situation. The Karakuris are one of my all-time favorite groups of monsters, since they can combine typical Machine tactics with the explosive power of the Karakuri Synchro Monsters. If you checked out any of the coverage from this past weekend’s YCS in Toronto, then you know the secret is out: The Geargia monsters from Return of the Duelist are really good. 4 Duelists made it to the playoff rounds with straight-up Geargia Decks, one of whom made it all the way to the Semi-finals! That’s pretty crazy for a Deck that had only been legal for 5 days.

The Karakuri monsters debuted in Starstrike Blast, and their position-switching style is certainly one of the most unique sets of abilities out there. Storm of Ragnarok gives Karakuri Duelists even more cards to add to their Decks and we’re going to look at 2 of them today. The first is a high-powered Synchro Monster for your Extra Deck, and the second is a World Premiere card that’s never been seen before. We’ve seen many new and exciting families of monsters that made their debut in recent booster sets. Hidden Arsenal 2 introduced Duelists to Naturia, which can work together with existing cards to lock down opponents. Scrap monsters made a big splash in Duelist Revolution and have already seen tournament success, making it to the Top 16 of Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship series events across the globe! Scraps and Naturia get all new cards in Starstrike Blast, but we’ll also see a brand new set of cards make their first appearance. It’s time to meet the Karakuri!
