Pendulum Summoning is, without a doubt, an incredibly powerful ability for any Duelist to have access to, but the question many Duelists are asking themselves right now is “How do I make sure I have access to Pendulum Summoning when I need it?” The answer rests in which Pendulum Monsters you decide to include in your Deck. Between Super Starter: Space-Time Showdown and Duelist Alliance there are two distinct “packages” of Pendulum Monsters to work with: one that’s extraordinarily powerful but generally takes 2 turns minimum to assemble, and one that’s not as powerful, but can be assembled and activated all within a single turn. Today we’ll look at the latter. Read more…

Today marks the launch of Super Starter: Space-Time Showdown, and the dawn of the 5th generation of Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG monsters! But the introduction of Pendulum Monsters isn’t the only thing that’s changing in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG – there are also changes the basic rules of Dueling for the first time in a very long time. You can read about them in the Beginner’s Guide that comes with each Super Starter, and we’ll go over them today here on the Strategy Site as well. Remember, if you’re playing in the North American World Championship Qualifier this weekend, these changes are NOT in effect! If you’re playing in other tournaments this weekend, for example, a weekly tournament at your local OTS, the cards from Space-Time Showdown, including the Pendulum Monsters, are legal and the new Pendulum Zones are added to the field. There’s a Pendulum Summon Tutorial video available here. The actual changes to the basic rules do not come into effect until Monday, July 14th! That’s the same day as the new Forbidden & Limited Cards List goes into effect! For a summary of what’s changed, read on. Read more…

From the very first episode of the classic TV series when Yugi drew the final piece of Exodia, the Forbidden One and annihilated Kaiba’s Blue-Eyes White Dragons, epic come-from-behind victories have been a permanent fixture of Yu-Gi-Oh! In fact, from Yugi, to Jaden, to Yusei, to Yuma, the coolest moments for every protagonist in every Yu-Gi-Oh! animated series have been their greatest comebacks.
The same goes for real life Duels as well. Our best memories of Dueling aren’t the times when we’ve completely overwhelmed and crushed our opponents. It’s the Duels that swing back and a forth over and over and only end when we, backed into a corner, turn things around with an incredible draw or brilliant combo to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat! And starting this Friday, July 11th, we’re introducing a new kind of card that takes all these things that you love about Dueling and gives them physical form!
They’re called Pendulum Monster Cards, and they make all the monsters you currently play with even better than they already are! So what exactly are Pendulum Monster Cards, and what can they do for you? Read on to find out!
