(Editor’s Note: While it has yet to make an impact, the return of Glow-Up Bulb to the Advanced Format has caused no small quantity of heated discussions and theoretical doomsday scenarios. It has only ever appeared in Starstrike Blast, but will be available once again in the Legendary Collection 5D’s Mega-Packs!)

Glow-Up Bulb is back! But what exactly can you do with it, and where can you put it to use? Read on to find out!

The Best Defense is 0 DEF

October 1st, 2013

We’ve spoken before about Masked Chameleon, a cool card from Judgment of the Light that gives Debris Dragon a run for its money.  When you Normal Summon the Chameleon, you can target a 0 DEF monster in your Graveyard and Special Summon it.  Whatever you revive will hit the field in Defense Position with its effect negated, but since Masked Chameleon’s a Level 4 Tuner, you can immediately make a powerful Synchro Summon.  If the monster you brought back was Level 4, you can even overlay for a Rank 4 Xyz, too.

Chameleon’s really good right now, because the monsters it unleashes are awesome at taking on some of the most popular Decks:

Judgment of the Light Preview: Twisted Shapesister

July 31st, 2013

Trap Monsters are one of the most peculiar types of cards in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME. Their ability to spring up on unsuspecting opponents can often turn the tide of a Duel in your favour. Up until now, they’ve mostly been used to wall up against attacks or as easy Tributes for a Tribute Summon in Battle Pack Sealed, but this new Trap Monster is looking to make her mark on the Advanced Format.  Shapesister is a new Trap Monster being released in Judgment of the Light, and she can do a lot more than just defend your Life Points! We’ve been showcasing the revival of Synchro Monsters in Judgment of the Light since last week, but what are great Synchro Monsters without great Tuners to go with them? Today we’re showing off a new Level 4 Tuner that’ll make Debris Dragon green with envy: the Masked Chameleon! Read more…

Starstrike Blast Preview: Scrap Mind Reader

November 2nd, 2010

The Scrap monsters debuted mere months ago in Duelist Revolution, but they’ve already made a big impact.  Scraps were first played at YCS Toronto, but their real breakthrough was a Top 16 finish at YCS San Jose.  They topped yet again at YCS Philadelphia, and at each of those tournaments we saw new ideas and new strategies in each Scrap Deck.  Scraps have had some impressive Top 8 finishes at recent Regional Qualifiers, too.  With those successes in the record books, Scrap Duelists are going to get a bundle of new tricks in Starstrike Blast, and 1 of them is an all-new card making its world debut: Scrap Mind Reader!

Once per turn, while this card is in your Graveyard during your Main Phase 2, you can select 1 face-up "Scrap" monster you control, except "Scrap Mind Reader". Destroy that monster and Special Summon this card from the Graveyard. If you do, remove this card from play when it is removed from the field. If this card is used as a Synchro Material Monster, all other Synchro Material Monsters must be "Scrap" monsters.
