YCS Toronto is the first YCS after the 2015 WCQ’s, and as a result it’s the first one to debut the new Prize Card: Minerva, the Exalted Lightsworn! Duelists have traveled far and wide to win this card, but only a select few will earn it. There are two Super Rare copies given out to 2nd and 3rd Place of the main event, and one Ultra Rare copy given to the winner of the whole thing!

We’re here in the Top 8 of YCS Toronto with Chris LeBlanc and Gabriel Orosan-Weine. LeBlanc is looking to get his third YCS win this weekend, packing a powerful Performage Nekroz Deck. Orosan-Weine came here with his Burning Abyss Deck and is looking to take LeBlanc out of the tournament. Orosan-Weine won the die roll and went second.

Neither of these competitors are new to the Feature Match table. Jeff Jones brought his Performage Shaddoll Deck and he’s dueling against Thomas Morran with his Nekroz Deck. Both of these Duelists are highly skilled, and the winner of this Match will likely make the Top 32. This is a popular matchup we’re sure to see throughout the Top 32 Single Elimination Rounds and I can’t wait to get started!

Welcome to Day 2 of YCS Toronto! This morning’s first Feature Match pits Ivan Cortez and his HERO Deck against Brian Chau. Cortez is the highest ranked HERO player, managing to only lose a single Match throughout all of yesterday. Brian Chau brought his Yang Zings today, featuring tons of intricate combos that he’s spent time perfecting. A win for either of these players would pretty much secure them a spot in the Top 32. Cortez won the die roll and opted to go first.

Chase Cunningham recently returned from the World Championship where he placed in the Top 4. He earned his invite to that event by getting second at the North American WCQ, a feat not many can say they’ve accomplished. He’s here today playing the same Deck that took him so far at the NA WCQ: Burning Abyss. His opponent is Matthew Chicas piloting the popular Performage Shaddoll Deck. Chicas won the die roll and opted to go second.
