Jesse Kotton and Chris LeBlanc are each fighting for their sixth Championship win! Kotton’s gone undefeated all weekend with his Unchained build, but LeBlanc’s hoping to take him down with his Purrely Deck!
We’ve made it all the way to the top 16! These Duelists can see the finish line but the pressure only gets more intense from here. Only 4 wins away from that Championship title, both Mustapha Ghanem and David Flores are looking to take that next step toward victory!
After 10 grueling rounds of Swiss, only 32 Duelists remain in the tournament! As many competitors know, the battle begins well before Round 1 is even paired. Deck choice is often the pivotal factor that decides your fate, so let’s take a look at what these Duelists used to make it to this stage!
A whole day of intense competition has already passed! Duelists have had time to relax, get some food and rest up, but for those still remaining in the Main Event, the job isn’t done just yet. Day 2 is here at YCS Vancouver and there are still 2 Swiss Rounds to be played before the cut to the Top 32. Competitors want to make sure they’re warmed up and game-ready.
The 2 Duelists in our first Feature Match today are no strangers to this stage; Pakawat “Pal” Pamornsut and David Bui are both veterans of Championship-level Dueling. But with 2 losses each, this Duel will decide who stays alive in the tournament, and who’s headed to Public Events for the afternoon. Still, both contenders were bringing all the enthusiasm and sportsmanship that had carried them this far!
We’re over halfway through the Swiss Rounds here at YCS Vancouver, and there are only a few Rounds left in Day 1. Among the handful of Duelists with undefeated records, 2 Canadians will be facing off. Ryan Yu, 2017 Dragon Duel World Champion is fresh from his 2nd Place finish at the Master Duel World Championship, and now he’s up against VIP Duelist Blake Morrison!
Both Duelists want to preserve their undefeated position and lock their spot in the Top Cut, and a win here would put them once step closer to that goal.
There’s a lot to be excited about when coming to a YCS. Duelists travel from all around the world to compete at a high level and show they have what it takes! Of those Duelists, there are some that stand out a little more than others. Bounty Duelists are selected for a variety of reasons that set them apart from the crowd, allowing them to collect booster packs for every win they take.
But they have to watch out: for all the packs they stack up, the bounty awarded upon their defeat grows bigger! Any lucky competitor that manages to defeat a Bounty Duelist will collect those booster packs instead. It’s always exciting when you’re paired up against one of these Bounty Duelists, so let’s meet some of the notable few from this weekend!
Paul Aronson is the defending World Champion and the first-ever Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME World Championship from the United States!

Among those VIP Duelists is Zhenting Liu from Canada, who is facing off against Ding Khang Pham from Germany! Liu won a VIP qualifier to get his VIP status at this event, but his opponent is no stranger to top-level play. The players roll and, despite winning the die roll, Pham interestingly opts to let his opponent start Duel 1 of Round 3!
