Welcome to Day 2! We’re playing 4 more rounds of Swiss before cutting to a Top 8 playoff! There are just 32 players left in the tournament, and every Duelist left in contention is aiming for the top spots! At Table 10 are two competitors with multiple YCS tops to their name; Brendan Beckmann is piloting Danger! SPYRAL is taking on Dominic Couch who has Scrap SPYRAL. Most of the field has 6 wins and 2 losses, so the Top 8 still isn’t locked in. Every match counts as we approach the end of Swiss. It’s time to Duel!

Earlier in the day, Michael Campos approached the coverage writers and showed us his Lunalight Deck that also used the Onomatopoeia cards. He mentioned he was X-1 and this piqued my interest. It’s Round 7 and he’s still X-1, and that’s worth a Feature Match! He’s taking on Avery Foster and his Invoked Deck. Avery’s Deck doesn’t use any Mekk-Knight cards you might see in an Invoked Deck, this is as pure of an Invoked Deck as I’ve seen. It’s time to Duel!

Welcome to Round 5! We’re at Table 35 where Ramiro Garcia – YCS Guadalajara Champion – from Dallas, Texas, has SPYRALs and is taking on Steven Trifunoski, who says he’s from Mt. Olympus but I’m not entirely sure that’s accurate, and his Pendulum Deck. Trifunoski has historically done well with the Pendulum strategy, taking it to a Top 8 finish at a Regional Qualifier in Scarborough, Canada that conformed to the latest Forbidden and Limited List before the list went into effect. This is relevant because that means he was able to make Top 8 using only one copy of Servant of Endymion while people were likely still playing decks like Salamangreat with Salamangreat Miragestallio, Sky Striker with 3 copies of Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage!, and Orcust with 3 copies of Orcust Harp Horror. This is sure to be a high-powered matchup! It’s time to Duel!

Welcome to Round 3! We’re at Table 50 this time around. Aaron Chase Furman from New Jersey is no stranger to the Feature Match table. He’s a UDS and YCS Champion, having won the Summer Invitational in 2016 and YCS Pittsburgh in 2017. He’s taking on Jimmy Doss from Commerce, Oklahoma – who had over 400 points going into this event, gained mostly from judging events starting in 2014 – with Nekroz! The Deck has some new tricks since we last saw the strategy in competitive play in 2015, and we’re about to see what the Deck can do in 2020! It’s time to Duel!

Welcome to Round 1! There’s about 70 players in the tournament right now, but once the players with Round 1 byes enter the fray, we’ll have 243 players in the last Ultimate Duelist Series Invitational in North America! For Round 1’s Feature Match, we’re looking at Table 6 where Carl Manigat from Long Island, New York – who placed 2nd in last year’s UDS Invitational in Las Vegas – has a Shaddoll Invoked Deck powered up with cards from the recently released Structure Deck: Shaddoll Showdown. He’s taking on Stephen Neil Muldoon Marquez from Phoenix, Arizona and his Lunalight Deck. This matchup will come down to whether or not Muldoon Marquez can make his plays before Manigat can bring El Shaddoll Winda to the field. For the first time this weekend, it’s time to Duel!

It’s been a busy and exciting weekend in Guadalajara, Jalisco! We started with 788 Duelists looking to become a YCS Champion, and we found one in Ramiro Garcia! He took Danger! Lunalight Orcust – a Deck that has been rising in popularity since YCS Portland some weeks ago – to a win here in Mexico.
