Here are the winners from the Dragon Duel on Saturday. From the left is 12-year-old Abraham, who’s been playing for a year now. His older brothers got him into the game. Today, he came prepared with his Warrior Deck. Next to him is 12-year-old Sebastian, originally from Italy. He’s been playing for about 6 years now at this home store, Avalon Game Arena, who is our Official Tournament Store and organizer for this WCQ. He came with his Blackwing Deck and says he plays Yu-Gi-Oh! because it helps his mind and intelligence! Angel, next to him, is the 11-year-old winner of today’s Dragon Duel. He loves his new game mat that he won with his Lightsworn Deck. On the very right is Alexander, who said that it was his first time in an official tournament. He said it was the best! This 12-year-old also started about 6 years ago, and was playing his Ancient Gear Deck today.
Meet cousins Pedro and Angel Cortes, the youngest contenders to participate in the Main Event this weekend. They came from Mexico, where we first saw them at the YCS – Mexico. This weekend, 10-year-old Pedro is playing with his Dragon Deck. He loves the bleachers in the venue, the prizes, and his message to his friends? “Try to win!”
His 11-year-old cousin, Angel, is happy to be training against lots of different Duelists here, loved the participation mat and sleeves, and says about the event “It’s very cool and I recommend you come!” Angel is playing his Banishing Deck.
Bleachers? What bleachers? This weekend, we’ve taken over the basketball stadium at the Costa Rica Tennis Club!
This is Rebeka Perez from Costa Rica. She qualified at the Last Chance Qualifiers yesterday. She started playing about 3 years ago because her son was into the game, and she wanted to play with her son. Today, she’s playing with a Gladiator Beast Deck, complete with the new GB cards from Extreme Victory!
As Round 4 gets underway, we were able to take a quick look at what type of Decks the Duelists were playing. The predominant Decks are Tengu-Synchro and Six Samurai, but we’re seeing everything from Blackwings, Gravekeepers, Fabled, T.G., Dragunities, X-Sabers, Gladiator Beasts, Lightsworn, Psychics, Scraps, Infernities, Plants, Zombies, Naturias and Worms to name but a few. Great Deck diversity in Central America! Let’s see who will make it into the Top!
