Dragon Duel: Mekanic Cole Agan VS Honorable Colby King

Cole Agan won Sunday’s Dragon Duel at YCS Charlotte, and now he’s back for the WCQ Dragon Duel! He ran a Lightsworn Deck back in Charlotte, but now he’s here with Scraps, taking on Colby King. King made it to the Top 4 of YCS Atlanta with Six Samurais, and now he’s trying his luck with his Samurais once again! Both Duelists are currently 3-0, but only one of them will advance in the tournament undefeated.

Successful Decks in today’s event: Six Samurai

If you read our Round 5 Feature Match coverage, you’ve already seen Lane Woodall’s deadly Six Samurai Deck in action!  Once upon a time (oh, say six or seven weeks ago?) Six Samurai were all about one thing: unleashing Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En for a back-breaking first turn, scoring free cards along the way with Six Samurai United and Gateway of the Six.  The Deck specialized in unleashing Shi En on turn 1 a whopping more than half of the time, thanks to powerful search cards and the deck-thinning Upstart Goblin.

Dragon Duel: Bushido Brawl – Jonathan Martin VS Vinnie Silvermane

Jonatha Isaac Martin and Vinnie Silvermane are both undefeated so far today in the last round of the Saturday Dragon Duel.  Martin, twelve, hails from Butler, Pennsylvania.  His opponent, Silvermane, is also twelve years old, and traveled here this weekend from Connecticut.  Both Duelists are playing similar builds of Six Samurai: Martin is running Shien’s Dojo, while Silvermane plays Dojo and Asceticism of the Six Samurai.

Round 5: Honorable Nizar Sarhan VS Duplicator Kevin Tilton

Nizar Sarhan won YCS Dallas with Six Samurais, and has been playing Samurais ever since. Sarhan made it to the Top 8 of YCS Charlotte and Top 16 of YCS Rhode Island with his Samurai Deck, and now he’s back with his Samurais and has a perfect 4-0 record in the WCQ! This is Kevin Tilton’s first WCQ, but he’s also doing well today. He’s undefeated with a Junk Synchron/Doppelwarrior heavy Deck, and now he’s facing off against Nizar Sarhan’s Samurais.

Round 5: Honorable Lane Woodall VS 31st Century Thomas Luebke

Thomas Luebke made the Top 16 of YCS Charlotte piloting Karakuri Machina Plants, and today he’s competing for a shot at the continental Championship with a T.G. Tengu Deck.  His opponent is Dallas’ Lane Woodall, who qualified for this tournament through a Lubbock Regional in March.  Woodall is playing Six Samurai.

Round 3: Frazier “Agent” Smith VS Honorable Josh Snyder

Frazier Smith is a YCS winner who beat out the competition at YCS Atlanta by using Gravekeeper’s. This allowed him to claim his first championship title. Since then, he has made it to the Top 16 at YCS Rhode Island with X-Sabers, and made it to the Top 16 at YCS Charlotte with Dragunities. But Josh Snyder is no stranger to the top tables either. He made the Top 32 of YCS Dallas with his Six Samurai Deck, and now he’s back for the WCQ, using his Six Samurai Deck against Smith’s Agents.

Round 1:Honorable Desmond Boyd VS Tombkeeper Alberto Barrera

In the past year, Desmond Boyd placed in the Top 16 of YCS Philadelphia and Top 16 at YCS Indianapolis, both with X-Sabers! Now, he’s back at the WCQ, this time playing a teched out Six Samurai Deck running 2 copies of Fiendish Chain and a copy of Vanity’s Emptiness. His opponent, Alberto Barrera, is competing in his first-ever WCQ with Gravekeeper’s. Boyd’s experience and Deck choice may give him the edge in this Match, but some great draws for Alberto Barrera could allow him to score a huge upset!
