Dragon Duel: Jack Hoyt Reborn VS Tombkeeper Abhishek Khadka

Massachusetts’s Jack Hoyt just lost Round 5 to Scrap Duelist Cole Agan, and now his life in the tournament is on the line in this Round 6 Feature Match. Hoyt won last year’s WCQ Dragon Duel Championship, and now he’ll need to win this round in order to maintain hope for a repeat performance. But Abhishek Khadka won’t make that easy for him. Khadka traveled here from Virginia and is looking to take down Hoyt’s Plant Tengu Deck with his Gravekeeper’s!

The Finals: Samuel Pedigo Reborn VS 31st Century Hansel Aguero

This was it: in mere moments, we would have our first-ever North American Champion.  Both of these Duelists would be heading to Amsterdam for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME World Championship in August, but right now it was all about the glory of the title win.  Hansel Aguero is piloting Tech Genus, while Samuel Pedigo is running Tour Guide Tengu Synchro.

Last Chance for Worlds: Jibri Thomas VS Bo Tang

Bo Tang is Canada’s last hope for a Worlds representative.  A win here for Tang would place Canada into the World Championships.  Defeat would mean a six-Duelist team representing the United States.

Quartefinal: Jeff Walker VS Joseph Bogli – More Tengu Madness

The winner of this Match would score a trip to the World Championship in Amsterdam next month, where they’ll compete to represent the United States in the year’s most honored Dueling competition.  The defeated Duelist in this Match would instead proceed to a playoff round, and would have a second chance to earn the same opportunity.  Both of these Duelists are playing Tengu Synchro variants.

Round 10: Jibri Thomas Reborn VS Galactic Kalvin Harrigal

Jibri Thomas made it to the Top 16 at YCS Charlotte with his Zombiesworn Deck, and now he’s back for the WCQ, this time playing Tengu Plants! His opponent, Kalvin Harrigal, has never attended a YCS before and is entering his first-ever WCQ this weekend. Both of these Duelists currently have 7-2 records, but only one of them will be able to advance to the next round with 8 wins.

Round 8: Lazaro Bellido vs. Tyler Tracy – More Tengu Madness

Lazaro Bellido was the winner of the most recent YCS in Toronto and has made it to the top tables of YCS events several times before. Now, he’s facing off against WCQ first-timer Tyler Tracy in a Tengu Plant mirror-Match! Bellido’s tournament experience may give him the edge here, but it’s anyone’s Match to win.

Round 6: Robert Boyajian Reborn VS Futuristic Jeff Jones

Boyajian made it to the Top 32 of YCS San Jose with a Blackwing Deck built by Jeff Jones, made it to the Top 32 of YCS Atlanta with a Debris Plants Deck built by Jeff Jones, and made it to the Top 16 of YCS Orlando with a Worm Deck that he built on his own. Now, he’s 5-0 in the WCQ and facing off against none other than Jeff Jones – the Duelist who built his Deck for 2 of the last 3 events that he succeeded in. Jeff Jones won the largest YCS event ever held, YCS Edison, with his Quickdraw Dandywarrior Deck, and won YCS Anaheim with his Dark Skill Drain Deck in 2009. Now, Robert Boyajian’s new Tengu Synchro Deck faces off against Jeff Jones’ new T.G. Deck.

Round 4: Tombkeeper Angel Ascencio VS Michael Boyd Reborn

Angel Ascencio scored a Top 16 finish at YCS Anaheim back in April, making the cut with Gravekeepers. Today he’s back piloting a new version of the same Deck.  His opponent, Michael Boyd, is running Tengu Synchro: in theory, a favorable matchup for Ascencio.  We’ll see how that theory plays out, as these two undefeated Duelists go head to head!

Round 2: Vincent Paglia VS Nate Laufer – Tengu Madness

Vincent Paglia represented the United States in last year’s World Championship, taking a celebrated second place finish.  He won his way back to this event this year through a Regional in Anaheim, and now he’s up against Pittsburgh native Nate Laufer.  Laufer qualified by making the Top 8 at a Columbus Regional several months ago, and both of these Duelists are playing similar Tengu Synchro Decks.  A win here for Paglia might set him on his way to another Worlds appearance.

Round 2: Jack “In Synch'” Hoyt VS High’flyin Shawn Grey

13-year-old Jack Hoyt is one of the few Duelists known all over the tournament hall. Hoyt has won 14 Dragon Duels including last year’s World Championship Qualifier Dragon Duel, and lots of Dragon Duelists aspire to be the next Jack Hoyt. But Grey is no stranger to the tournament scene either. He’s a veteran WCQ competitor, competing in his fourth World Championship Qualifier tournament this weekend! Hoyt is running Tengu Synchro, a popular Deck in this weekend’s tournament, and Grey is playing a Blackwing Deck that uses Genex Ally Crusher.
