We had 4 Duelists that came all the way from Trinidad & Tobago at the Central American World Championship Qualifier. The National Champion from Trinidad & Tobago – Sanjay Atmaram Manoocame in 5th place this past weekend. Here’s Sanjay and his friends!
Juan Carlos Coronel, together with his younger brother and father, traveled from Guadalajara to attend the Central American World Championship Qualifier, after the Mexican National Championship, with Juan attending as the Mexican Dragon Duel Champion, and his father as Mexican National Champion. He is our newest Central American Dragon Duel Champion and will be representing all of Central America, and Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. at the 2015 Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME World Championship in Kyoto, Japan.
Congratulations to Juan, and we will see you in Kyoto in August!
This is it! The winner of this one final Match will capture the title of Central American Champion and go on to represent Central America at the World Championship in August. Galileo Mauricio De Obaldia Soza was World Champion in 2010 and would like nothing more than to take another shot at the World Title. But he’s up against Daniel Alfonso Rodriguez, and this is anything but a simple Nekroz Mirror Match.
Congratulations to Galileo De Obaldia from Panama – our new Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME Central American Champion! This will be his third appearnace at the World Championship, after winning in 2010 and coming in 3rd in 2011.
Well done Galileo, and we will see you in Kyoto, Japan!
Galileo Mauricio De Obaldia Soza won the World Championship in 2010 and took third place in 2011. After a string of WCQ and YCS tops, he’s now back in the hunt for another trip to Worlds with Nekroz. If you’ve been following the coverage you already saw his opponent Jose Felix Maldonado Garrido in action last round with Burning Abyss, where he utterly dismantled his Nekroz Duelist opponent. Were we in for a repeat of that performance, or was De Obaldia headed to another Finals table?
This was it! One month ago, Juan Carlos Coronel and Daniel Isai Coronel sat across from each other at a tournament table much like this one, as they Dueled for the title of National Dragon Duel Champion of Mexico! Juan Carlos emerged victorious in that Match to take the title, but now his little brother was back and gunning for the Central American Dragon Duel Champion title. Juan Carlos is playing Nekroz. Daniel is playing Burning Abyss. Two brothers, once again facing off for a Championship. We’ve never seen anything like this before! Juan Carlos chose to play second in the first Duel.
Eight Duelists remain in the tournament, competing for the title of Central American Champion and a seat at the World Championship! Jose Felix Maldonado Garrido is the last Burning Abyss player in contention, the last survivor amongst a field of Nekroz and Shaddolls. His opponent this round is Nekroz Duelist Christian Pavel Padilla Albores. Could Burning Abyss survive another Round?
2 more single-elimination rounds to go before we have a new Central American Champion!
Here are the Top 8 pairings at the Central American World Championship Qualifier.
