This is it! The winner of this one final Match will capture the title of Central American Champion and go on to represent Central America at the World Championship in August. Galileo Mauricio De Obaldia Soza was World Champion in 2010 and would like nothing more than to take another shot at the World Title. But he’s up against Daniel Alfonso Rodriguez, and this is anything but a simple Nekroz Mirror Match.

Galileo Mauricio De Obaldia Soza won the World Championship in 2010 and took third place in 2011. After a string of WCQ and YCS tops, he’s now back in the hunt for another trip to Worlds with Nekroz. If you’ve been following the coverage you already saw his opponent Jose Felix Maldonado Garrido in action last round with Burning Abyss, where he utterly dismantled his Nekroz Duelist opponent. Were we in for a repeat of that performance, or was De Obaldia headed to another Finals table?

This was it! One month ago, Juan Carlos Coronel and Daniel Isai Coronel sat across from each other at a tournament table much like this one, as they Dueled for the title of National Dragon Duel Champion of Mexico! Juan Carlos emerged victorious in that Match to take the title, but now his little brother was back and gunning for the Central American Dragon Duel Champion title. Juan Carlos is playing Nekroz. Yesterday’s field of 599 Duelists has dwindled down to this: 64 competitors now fighting for their survival in the tournament. From here on out the 2015 Central American World Championship Qualifier is single elimination – one slip, one mistake, or one misplaced judgment can take any of these Duelists out of the tournament. Perfection’s the order of the day. For these Duelists, an entire year of practice and playtesting all comes down to this – six Rounds of high-pressure competition for the ultimate prize.

We’re nine Rounds deep into the 2015 Central American WCQ, but we haven’t seen a single Burning Abyss Deck in a Feature Match yet! Jesus Avalos Hernandez has a 7-1-1 record piloting Burning Abyss this weekend, so he has a solid chance at making the Top 64 win or lose. Victory here would lock his seat in the playoffs and give him some major momentum.

Good morning Mexico City! Yesterday we closed out Day 1 with a look at one of the two Infernoid Decks played at the top tables. While that Duel was an unfortunate blowout for our featured Infernoid Duelist – he managed to draw none of the enabling cards that let him fill his Graveyard to fuel Special Summons in two games straight – both Infernoid Duelists are still making a strong bid for the Top Cut here in Day 2. While our previous feature Oldair Garcia Enciso is still hanging in with a 6-1-1 record, Tijuana’s Dario Avalos Rodriguez is 7-1 after grinding in through a Last Chance Qualifier yesterday. A solid showing from either Duelist in the last two Rounds this morning will take them to the Top 64, just six wins away from a ticket to the 2015 Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME World Championship in Kyoto, Japan.
