South America WCQ: Day 2 Intro

Welcome to Day 2 of the South American World Championship Qualifier! After nine Swiss rounds yesterday, our Duelists have been reduced to only the Top 64 – from here, the tournament is single elimination. Duelists will need all their skill, luck, and heart to win six rounds in a row and earn the right to represent South America at the World Championship in Japan!

We’re about to begin today’s first round – it’s time to Duel!

South America WCQ Round 9 Feature Match: Aksony Contreras vs Sebastian Caro

Aksony Contreras is a Venezuelan Duelist, though he currently resides in Colombia. As such, he was able to become the newest Colombian National Champion! He’s one of the few SPYRAL Duelists in attendance. His opponent is Sebastian Caro, here from Chile, using Trickstars. Unlike most Duelists this weekend, Caro has opted to play a pure Trickstar build, rather than mixing it with other themes like Sky Strikers.

South America WCQ Round 7 Feature Match: Gonzalo Orihuela vs. Alexander Choque

Gonzalo Orihuela is here from Bolivia, packing a Mekk-Knight Sky Striker Trickstar Deck. This Frankenstein Deck has gained a lot of popularity this weekend, with Duelists using the best cards from each theme to generate a lot of advantage. His opponent is Alexander Choque, from Peru, using a Burning Abyss Chaos Deck! His Deck features only monsters, except for three copies of the new Sekka’s Lightfrom Flames of Destruction.
