At a YCS the byes are a huge perk, so you can imagine how much of an impact they have at a tournament as important as the WCQ. In addition to a UDS Champion, the VIP Duelists for the CAWCQ include those who claimed victory at their National Championships as well as those who were the top World Qualifying Point earners who battled it out in our Playoffs yesterday. Here’s a list of all the VIP Duelists competing this weekend!

Read more…Welcome to Day 1! After all of the excitement of the World Qualifying Points Playoffs, it’s hard to believe we haven’t even started the Main Event! With record breaking attendance, we have 779 Duelists today all vying for an invitation to the World Championship. For Round 1, we have last year’s WCQ Champion Abraham Roger Guzman Garcia with pure Thunder Dragon facing off against Joshua Josue Rivera Escalante and his Sky Striker Deck.
It all comes down to this! Galileo De Obaldia Soza from Panama will be facing off against Jose Carlos Carrillo Toscano from Mexico for a spot to represent Central America in this year’s World Championship. We have featured both Duelists already, watching them each claim victory. Who will come out on top and earn their trip to the World Championship in Berlin, Germany this August?
The World Qualifying Points Playoff is filled with star studded Duelists, but Galileleo Mauricio De Obaldia Soza has done what most could not even fathom. With four World Championship appearances, placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and in the Top 8, it makes sense why we see him in the Points Playoff today. He is representing Panama and has chosen Sky Striker as his weapon of choice. His opponent, Nelson Omar Andino Ochoa, is no slouch either. He is representing Honduras and has brought Danger! Orcust.
The World Qualifying Points Playoff is a brand-new aspect to this year’s WCQs, where players can earn WCQ points across the Dueling season for a chance to compete for an invite to the World Championship! This is a very prestigious event, where only the top performing players from each region can compete prior to the WCQ. After months of dedication, these 8 Duelists have each earned a Super Rare copy of Chaos Emperor, the Dragon of Armageddon and are competing for a single slot in a single elimination bracket. They will also receive VIP status for tomorrow’s main event!
