Welcome to Day 1! After all of the excitement of the World Qualifying Points Playoffs, it’s hard to believe we haven’t even started the Main Event! With record breaking attendance, we have 779 Duelists today all vying for an invitation to the World Championship. For Round 1, we have last year’s WCQ Champion Abraham Roger Guzman Garcia with pure Thunder Dragon facing off against Joshua Josue Rivera Escalante and his Sky Striker Deck.

Central America World Qualifying Points Playoff Top 8 Feature Match: Erick Villanueva Priego vs. Jose Carlo Carrillo Toscano

The World Qualifying Points Playoff is a brand-new aspect to this year’s WCQs, where players can earn WCQ points across the Dueling season for a chance to compete for an invite to the World Championship! This is a very prestigious event, where only the top performing players from each region can compete prior to the WCQ. After months of dedication, these 8 Duelists have each earned a Super Rare copy of Chaos Emperor, the Dragon of Armageddon and are competing for a single slot in a single elimination bracket. North America WCQ Top 16 Feature Match: Walter Jule vs. Russell Kenneth Novak-Burdick

July 1st, 2018

And we’re now at Top 16!  Walter Jule finished Swiss in 27th place as the only one of two Duelists to take Pendulum Magician into Top 64.  His opponent is Russell Kenneth Novak-Burdick who finished Swiss in 54th with a Trickstar Sky Striker Deck.  Pendulum Magicians have had to adapt since losing Astrograph Sorcerer in the latest Forbidden and Limited List, but it’s still clearly a Deck to be considered!  Only one of these Duelists will move on to the Top 8. Who will move on? It’s time to Duel!

North America WCQ Top 32 Feature Match: Chester Henson vs. Russell Novak-Burdick

Chester Henson from Georgetown, Kentucky was the 2017 North America World Championship Qualifier winner. Just one year ago, he took first place and earned an invitation to the World Championship in Tokyo, Japan; but because of his work schedule, he was unable to attend the World Championship, and his invitation passed down to the fifth place Duelist, allowing Aaron Furman to attend the World Championship in his place. Now, Chester Henson is here again, Dueling his way back to another paid trip to Tokyo, Japan and an invitation to compete in the 2018 Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME World Championship. Henson is using a Gouki Deck, and he’s facing off against Russell Novak-Burdick and his Trickstar Sky Strikers in the Top 32 in a Match that will determine which one of these Duelists advances to the Top 16. It’s time to Duel!
