Seven Rounds of competition this weekend had come to this – two talented youth Duelists, about to throw down for the title of 2016 Dragon Duel Champion of Central America! The winner here would go on to represent Central America at the 2016 Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME Dragon Duel World Championship in Orlando Florida in August. Daniel Isai Coronel Contreras is playing Kozmos, while Ronaldo Isai Sierra Cabello is running Domain Monarchs.

How did we miss THIS all weekend?
Alan Garcia Alvarez is playing what might come to be regarded as the Deck of the tournament here at the WCQ: a hybrid deck in the style of oldschool “Monster Mash” strategies, packing 39 monsters and just 5 spell cards. Kaijus, Speedroids, Burning Abyss, Gallis the Star Beast… the Deck’s packed with surprises, and now we’ll get to see it in action.
But his opponent is the three-time YCS winner Angel Zayren Flores Covarrubias, one of the most successful career Duelists in the history of the game! We saw Flores take a decisive win in our Top 64 Feature Match, where he handily defeated Mario Andres Enriquez Garcia in a very quick 2-1 victory. Flores is playing Demise Kozmos, and this match-up’s going to pit Flores’ incredible wealth of experience against Alvarez’s off-the-wall innovation. Will Alvarez catch the Champ off guard? Or will Flores use his experience and years of insight to adapt on the fly.

With just five rounds of competition remaining in the tournament, here are the Decks and the players that are still in the hunt for the title of Central American Champion, and an invite to the World Championship in August.
