Deck Profile: Daniel Misner’s Vayu Turbo Deck

November 14th, 2009

For many Duelists this weekend the number one card-to-get from Stardust Overdrive is “Blackwing – Silverwind the Ascendant.” Blackwings have experienced a big surge in popularity, and virtually every Blackwing Duelist here today is playing Silverwind. Just as we saw at the SHONEN JUMP Championship in Orlando, Florida, Blackwing Decks are being built in two varieties: the regular Blackwing Deck, and Vayu Turbo. Read more…

November 14th, 2009

There are a lot of new ideas and tech we’re seeing this weekend, and Beast Decks are no exception! Josh Thomas has made some clever new additions to the Beast archetype, and the result is a Deck that’s big on defense, makes big plays with “Creature Swap,” and keeps Summoning “King of the Beasts” over and over. The secret ingredient? “Kinka-byo”! Read more…

Deck Profile: Orlando Andujar’s Stardust Assault Mode Deck

November 14th, 2009

“Stardust Dragon/Assault Mode” has one of the most powerful effects in the game. By Tributing it, you can negate and destroy any Spell, Trap, or Monster Effect, and then Special Summon “Stardust Dragon/Assault Mode” back to your field during the End Phase. Since you need to Tribute a Stardust Dragon to use “Assault Mode Activate” and Summon Stardust Assault Mode, some Duelists find it difficult to Summon it to the field. But not Orlando Andujar. His Deck makes Summoning “Stardust Dragon/Assault Mode” a breeze. Read more…

Deck Profile: Chris Miller’s Kristya / Lightsworn Deck

November 14th, 2009

Chris Bowling won SHONEN JUMP Championship Austin with the Deck known as Twilight – a powerful Deck combining DARK monsters and Lightsworn. Now with the release of “Archlord Kristya” in Stardust Overdrive, a new kind of Lightsworn Deck is possible. And this one has the potential to be faster, more aggressive, and capable of shutting down Special Summoning entirely. “Wulf, Lightsworn Beast” is out, and “Archlord Kristya” and “Shire, Lightsworn Spirit” are in, in this breakneck-paced Lightsworn build piloted by Chris Miller. Deck Profile: Conrad Selig’s Flamvell / Lightsworn Deck

November 14th, 2009

Flamvells were introduced with “Flamvell Commando” in the Ancient Prophecy booster set. With the new release of Hidden Arsenal came a bunch of new Flamvell monsters. Conrad Selig is using one of them here today. “Flamvell Magician” is a Level 4 Tuner with 200 DEF. Since “Rekindling” from Ancient Prophecy Special Summons all FIRE monsters with 200 DEF from the Graveyard, Selig is using these two cards together in his Flamvell Lightsworn Deck. The main point of the Deck is to send cards from the Deck to the Graveyard using “Charge of the Light Brigade,” “Solar Recharge,” and the effects of the Lightsworn monsters. Then, when there are enough Flamvell monsters in his Graveyard, Selig can activate “Rekindling” to swarm the field and finish off his opponent. Read more…

We’ve seen a lot of Decks here today featuring new themes from Stardust Overdrive, but Herman Herrera may be the only Duelist in the building running two of those new themes at the same time! The power of “Dark Simorgh” is well understood by most, but add a dash of Fortune Ladies and you’ve got a surprisingly fast, deadly Deck that nobody could have seen coming! Here’s what Herrera’s Deck looks like… Read more…

Now, some of the most successful competitors in the French Dueling scene have traveled to the U.S. this weekend, including Vincent Ralambomiadana. He’s playing a Deck called French Twilight.
